Changing Fov

Thanks. So thats why i am getting so high fps in this game :) Well 60 deg is still better than 47 deg of half blind Amanda Ripley :)

Any suggestions for a triple monitor setup? I'm trying to minimize the stretching appearance on the sides. At the moment I have it set to 0, as someone suggested that would reduce the stretched look.

Sorry dude, but I have no experience with triple monitor setups. Just try playing around with the numbers until you find something your comfortable with. It takes a bit of time waiting for the game to load, but it'll be worth it. Just go up in increments of 25 or 30 until it doesn't look so stretched.

72 works perfect for me. 26 inch 1080p at 80 cm away.

75 was okay as well but too much "fisheye distortion" already.

I nearly ended up with 70 just to cut out a bit of the fisheye effect, but ended up going back to 80 cause it really gives the viper cockpit a more snake-head like view.
Different ships probably have their own optimal FoV setting, it'd be cool if some of you guys could post some screenshots of different ships with your FoV settings.

I would, but my current drunken NYE state couldn't cope with it. Nor could my hangover tomothismorninghappynewyear for that matter. And then it comes down to your hardware - graphics card and screen.

You just have to try it some.

I would be curious to hear from anyone with significant combat comparisons if it makes targeting harder.

I have my fov at 90 atm and it definitely makes targeting harder if you aren't using trackir. It seems to make the targeting window smaller in scale with higher fov.

Anybody out there, anybody at all, with a three monitor setup and advice on this? Thanks in advance.

Yeah - I'm running tripleheaded with 5040x1080, and because the monitors are 16x9 rather than 10, the hud windows are half off the screen when decelerating/maneuvering because of the silly head look nonsense.

I've set my FOV to 65 (rather than 60) and that little bit more makes all the difference - recommended! Don't go crazy like some of these 90 degree guys. YMMV but for me anything over 65 was too small on the hud to be usable.

I know this is an old thread but can anyone help me? I bought this game through steam and to find this folder has been a royal PITA. I cannot find it as when I go to username and then look for app data its nowhere to be found. When I got to my steam folder and browse local files on the game I get the game folders but they are not the same as I see online for other people who have the game without having gone through steam. Any recommendations?

appdata is a hidden folder.

To get to it the easiest way is to open file explorer (winkey+E) and in the address bar type:

C:\Users\<yourusernamehere>\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics\Settings.xml

This will find it. You can get your username from the Users folder.
