Changing hud color for xbox

also, it's not like modding hasn't been DONE on xbox already, ie fallout 4, and that one game I caught an arrow to the knee (ouch!). So I don't see why fdev wouldnt try to set something like that up with mcsft, or figure out a way to integrate some of said 3rd party tools into their game since they're so approving. But hey, logic right?

Though it changes many other things in the game, I've adjusted the color schemes of my tv to adjust for the orange. Myne is considerably more red now which for me has improved the game significantly. Though, it's impossile to see the text warnings in red when selecting some missions, makes it an issue, but one I can handle cause I know how and when to run.

We've been trying to get this for a while...hell we even somewhere on this forum offered to pay them for it. But nope, Frontier doesn't want to. It's one of a the few things that gets under my skin about the developers...HUD color change. Maybe one day they'll actually do it....but until then, its Orange Spread Sheet's in Space!

I still dont get why people haven't accepted the hud is orange and moved on with their life.
No "but people on PC have changed it so I should be able to as well" is not a valid reason.
I don't remember the masses whining over laser colours before we got the ability to change them. I get it can be annoying but really some complaints you would think people's eyes are melting.

It's enough to limit my play time is saying something. If they keep adding content why not swing by the code and implement it. Put the problem to bed and move on. If fdevs want people playing the game why are we pulling teeth on quality of life options. Doesn't make much sense to me. At this point I'd accept discolored elements as long as I can alleviate the orange!

,
yeah they'd rather push 8 different variations of the same space suits or paint jobs and charge for each one seperately (though some are i packs) or charge 6 dollars for the cheapest looking string lights ive ever seen, not even lcd o_O

Edit: I could care less about lasers, I don't look at them as much, and their not shoved in my face like this orange is, on every ship, with the same layout. We all got our personal prefrences of what we like to look at, and after a week, this orange is boring, and it's 3304, we have cars with huds that can change their colors already in 2018! Pair that with we're driving a year 2000ish glorified mars rover as well, and things start adding up!

Why they simply does not add Color Schemes if other TextColors creates Problems with different HUD-Colors?
Wouldnt this fix the whole Problem?

I second that. The mush face crew and npc pictures look so alien they may as well be discolored as well. And the annoying red alert “you’ve been fined” text can go too.

Not related but I would like the option to turn off the HUD on Xbox officially, don't know why it isn't a thing yet tbh

Well, you can dim it, or restart the ship of u want a acreenie. Holding b + right on dpad gives us a neat camera view that you can change between different spots, or even free mode it by pressing right stick, and additionaly, you can press why (edit: bahahahaha i mean y, man i type faster than i can process) to make the cameras hud elements turn off, which is absolutely amazing for screen shots

I don't think it really big of a deal. It would certanly be nice to change the color. Got bit of an eye strain from all the oranges and yellows in the galaxy on my long exploration trips. A nice blue would be welcome.

red's and oranges are actually less likely to cause eye strain, i have pretty bad eyes and need to wear glasses/contacts all the time so I tend to stay up on this stuff.

"Blue light is short-wavelength visible light that is associated with more eye strain than longer wavelength hues, such as orange and red. Reducing the color temperature of your display lowers the amount of blue light emitted by a color display for better long-term viewing comfort." - source, the link below

here's a good read

lcd backlight, brightness and such all have their part in eye strain too, which is why I try to have different profiles for my tv which i change depending on level of lighting.

It'd just be nice to change the colors.

Ywah i know thats why the devs went for orange. But if the option is here we can switch between color and avoid eye strain alltogetger.

Some people do have eyestrain from certain colors. Red and orange are the most common to to produce less. Not the only to produce less. It is all dependant on people's eye color, how much light thier eyes absorb, reflect, and refract.

Do we need to bring up the topic of the blue and black dress? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_dress

I mean like... not many games let you change the color of the HUD... you only want it so bad for ED because you've seen it on PC. Just pretend you never saw it.
Sure, but other games have their huds on the periphery, not taking up half the screen. When there's zero hud difference even between the different ships, eventually the same look can very much start to grate. Doesn't take seeing different colours on pc to make you yearn for something different.

Customizable HUDs are the "next major milestone" that Zac hinted at but couldn't talk about in the community update. Everyone assuming that its space legs or atmospheres are going to be severely disappointed. ;)

What Zac was hinting at wasn't customisable HUDs...it was the additional elements to the HUD for the new mining/exploration probes planned for the Q4 update.

You can bet the HUD will still be outspan orange (Blue and white in my case) with some additional bits for the probes [yesnod] Fortunately...the new HUD elements are being set up in a way they only appear when using the new probe/mining mechanic so not to overload the cockpit HUD view when not mining or using the probes.

Most of that info comes from the Lavecon Live stream where they discussed the probe things during the stream, there were a few screenshots on the new HUD elements in concept during that live stream...although I can't for the life of me track down those screenshots [rolleyes]

Frontier said Elite would enter "a new era" sometime after this year. I think they really meant changeable HUD colors. :)
