And I am entitled to ignore your statement too. You need to follow your own advice and stop responding to people as that makes you just as bad, and if FDev doesn't want people discussing it I am sure they would have told the Mods to give out warnings anyway. Discussion can help create new ideas and ways to fix the issues that people can see.
If you stopped telling him he'd given his view, maybe he would stop giving it.
(can you guess to whom I am addressing this? )
I havent been doing 'exploration' that long ... I only have a basic DBX with a jump range of about 35ly all I do is pick a random route and at each stop off point of my max jump range I honk the horn look at what hasnt been discovered then scan everything in that system
What really hacks me off is seeing the few most valuable planet scanned *cherry picked* and nothing else.. if this stops this then great
Maybe FDev should make it that if you scan 1 body in the system then you cant leave that system until all the bodies have been scanned
What disappoints me the most in this thread is the unreasonable selfish attitude of the ADS haters, compromises (some good some bad) have been suggested yet a couple of people are vehemently against any sort of compromise (one was already on my ignore list and now the other joins them)...that IMO is unreasonable and I sincerely hope FD do NOT listen to that viewpoint.
The problem with exploring was never the ADS, it was the DSS's complete lack of gameplay. Suggestions to reduce the effectiveness of the ADS are IMO a reasonable compromise. But keep all the new stuff for surface scanning and the detail stuff. But also keep the ability as now to fly up to the planet for those that want to stay in the cockpit (not that FD ever said that was being removed).
The BEST games give players multiple ways to accomplish their goals.

Ok, all the primary planets have been scanned .. other stars are way too far out of my range to bother.
*selects a star, engages frenship*
*Message: You cannot leave the system until you've scanned EVERYTHING!"
But.. the closest star in this system is 1.5 hours away ...
*Message: EVERYTHING!!!!!!! *e-froth*
Or maybe you should fly more than 500LY outside the bubble where you're able to find completely pristine systems with no real difficulty.
Why would that not be an acceptable compromise?
I don't disagree with you necessarily btw, but it isn't clear why you think it's bad.
There are flaws to every proposal, it may be more helpful to state what you want rather than what you don't want, assuming you haven't already done so. The post you replied to does this. Different players want different things from the game and compromise is inevitable.
This. A thousand times.

I’m not saying it’s bad, but it does make the scanning and tuning mechanic pointless as the planets could be found/scanned much quicker via targeting in the system map and then quickly finding in the new interface. Effectively giving the DSS unlimited range it would send the “ADS unlimited range is bad” camp into a bigger fit as it really wouldn’t be a compromise at all.
Thanks, dad.
I was trying to inject some humour into yet another thread whose tag should be: Argue Room #1435.
The ADS already has unlimited range, the plan is to change that and some are not happy with this. Clearly infinite range is something FDev want to change, as do others. Some will be upset either way. The post you replied to was attempting to find an acceptable compromise. You could suggest your own if you haven't already done so. Your suggestion will not be perfect either, and will just prioritise differently based on your own experience.
Leaving some semblance of the existing mechanism is a reasonable suggestion.
From what I can tell the new DS will also have unlimited range.
This may come as a surprise to you but the very same impression also goes the other way around. [noob]
These exploration threads are really going down hill today.
FD I think you need to give us a demo...
I am playing by your rules and those others have assumed within this thread. It's usefulness plummets as we exchange words.
Would you prefer this, or a productive thread the Devs can actually use to gather opinions?
Anyone wishing for clarity on this can refer to the Dev posts in this thread. The plan may change.
