Click play nothing happens

when you open the launcher(non steam version link in previos post) and click your name then goto settings then options have you tried unticking the options ect (if so what options send a screenies plz itll help me visualize)
have you tried the hardware survey within too?

am i correct in saying the launcher says play and not update meaning files have downloaded ok and have you temp disabled firewall and antivirus
when you click play grab screenies too at say 4 min intervals
it may also help me help you if you post a dxdiag report blanking anything you deem sensitive in screenies you send as obviously this is a public forum
also try planetside 2 its free online only and does that work? (as playing one may help sort the other) as in connection and direct x etc
also when you goto control panel programs and features it should list there what Microsoft net frameworks redistributables ect are installed again screenies plz so i can do the go compare thingie or you can to see if any thing is missing (which should be found and installed from microsoft)
go compare .jpg
go compare 2.jpg

comiserations for not getting sorted sooner hopefully we will get this sorted 1 way or the other

It might not be something that is missing from your computer, it could be something that is running on it that is interfering with ED. Do you have any programs installed that are not likely to be installed by most players?

Have you tried creating a second Windows user and login and run it via that?

I have gone back for a 4th time tonight and removed all instances of Elite from steam, my appdata folders and anywhere on my hard drive.

I downloaded against via Frontier only launcher and checked my launcher config I cannot see any issues. I went through the tedious task of removing all .net and visual c++ stuff

The game still does not run the launcher button turns grey then goes back to standard colour there is nothing in the game log files either to suggest an issue. My firewall is turned off and I even DMZ'd my PC on my router.

What version of windows? I seem to remember someone having problems with the enterprise edition and some missing .net libraries.

Edit, if purchased from Steam later than spring 2019 (IIRC) it's impossible to start it from the standalone Frontier launcher.

Have you tried isolating the problem? I don't know anything about steam but all the launcher does on Frontier's own launcher is start the ED exe with the right credentials. That's why the slim Launcher someone wrote works, they just wrote a program to do the same thing without any baggage. I don't actually know what the parameters are (never needed to).

The ED exe will actually start and run without any credentials, it'll just stop and say "use the launcher" if you try. If the exe starts and runs then you know that's not the problem. The problem is somewhere between the launcher and starting the exe. If the exe doesn't run then you might get more clues to go on from there.

Interesting! I thought I was running Windows 10 pro but it seems to say enterprise BUT the game has worked before just the new launcher has caused problems. My game was client first then I put it onto Steam but I'm trying client only and Steam.

I've searched the forum but don't seem to be able to locate the post. IIRC it was regarding the new launcher not starting the game on Windows11 Enterprise edition and the problem was fixed by repairing/reinstalling .NET. Maybe support remembers what the solution is, or maybe this helps: https://customersupport.frontier.co...es-and-error-messages-seen-with-the-Launcher-

Best of luck as I really don't know/remember any more details than the above.
