Clipper or ASP

200lys ? I've ran into them and signal sources 1200lys out barely a week ago, be careful out there, and yes def an ASP with one amfu and one heat sink for when you suddenly pop into the middle of a tri or binary star system and start roasting :)

I just bought another Asp after Quivira! And I was so damn close Alioth I could have touched it. I need to read the news more often...

I wouldnt worry, the only reason they have been discounted is they are write-offs from when I was flying them.

Originally, I wanted to hop into an Imperial Clipper, and found that on top of the 23 million I needed to spend on the stock ship, I also needed to improve my status with the empire in order to purchase one. I was working on both when I discovered the Asp. I was planning on using the clipper for exploration, but since I've been flying the Asp, I see no reason to get the clipper. The Asp is my favorite shipping so far. If I were you, I'd forget about the clipper, and get the Asp.

How far out do you think someone could get in an Adder? I know it's a tiny ship comparatively, but it's got a pretty good jump range if set up right.

Take 2 so they can repair each other, you really don't want to find yourself 20,000 ly from home with a broken auto-repair.

If you have a broken AMFU, your PP and Canopy will be in a similarly bad shape, you wont make it home.
2 small AMFU for the Ammo is a decent choice, but if you have a large one, you dont need 2
I normally only ever fix FSD and Thrusters while I am in the black, I keep them at 100%. The rest gets fixed on the way back when I am near the bubble.

Love exploradders! Super underrated, imo second best after asp for exploration (some stinky anaconda and T6 lovers disagree). As long as you can make the jump, you can go anywhere in one.

With the speed of the clipper you wouldn't need shields and chaff. But Asp still has a longer range even with that equipment.

2 AFMUs (no weight ) and 2 Heatsinks would be my choice because 3 sinks are gone fast if something happens...

I hate them because of the front window. I like to SEE the universe I'm exploring.

You'd think so wouldn't you but it ain't necessarily so, I popped out between a type B and a type M and got pretty toasty but was able to get clear without dropping out of supercruise but I did take damage, curiously 6% damage to sensors, 3% to 4% on most other systems except the hull, power supply and canopy which all remained undamaged so after running the repair I was back at 100% for everything.

I don't know if this was a huge lucky coincidence of if some systems get damaged preferentially but it does suggest that it is possible to take enough damage to wreck a single AMFU but still have other systems working and as the AMFU are of apparently zero mass and can be powered down when not in use there is no real reason not to pack 2 of them.
