Coatsink, Pixel Toys & VRC Studios should thank Frontier for NOT doing VR in EDO

Got to have those pixels, especially when programming. Also useful for playing games such as Elite and MSFS

Mmhmm. Adding to this later, basically, when I get my big graphics tablet with screen at the end of the year.

Yeah I've played Elite in VR a few times and honestly prefer my dual monitor setup just way more. It'll probably get me crucified in this thread but whatever.

And as mentioned it's also really useful for doing anything meaningful and productive too.
I guess this is what we get for using our computers for work and productive tasks as well as vidya gaemz

What do Coatsink, maker of Jurassic World Aftermath Part 1 in 2020 & Part 2 in 2021, since acquired by Thunderful; The Virtual Reality Company / VRC Studios, maker of Jurassic World Expedition VR, Carbon Studio, maker of Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Tempestfall on PC VR and Quest, and Pixel Toys, maker of Warhammer 40,000: Battle Sister all have in common?

They're ever so glad Frontier Developments DON'T do first person VR, even in games that the players are literally begging for it, like their flagship title Elite Dangerous Odyssey, as that stance Frontier have taken has enabled these small indies to poach the first person VR games commissions for major headline franchises that Frontier Developments has relationships with, and already develops and publishes other titles for, like Universal Studio's Jurassic Park/World & & Games Workshop's Warhammer series.

There are already 5 massive franchise titles that Frontier have missed out on from franchises they already have a good relationship with, presumably because they are no longer seen as a "VR Capable Studio":

  1. Jurassic World Aftermath Part 1
  2. Jurassic World Aftermath Part2
  3. Jurassic WorldExpedition VR
  4. Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Tempestfall
  5. Warhammer 40,000: Battle Sister
The revenue from anyone of those titles would have paid for EDO:VR many times over. The longer they leave VR out of Odyssey the more titles they will miss the commission on, so come on Frontier, put VR in Odyssey, you owe it to us your players, and more importantly you owe it to your future sales and your shareholders.
Fdev, can you remove in-ship EDO VR for specific players? Just wondering.

When you play VR you'll understand.
I do play in VR, when I wish... Most of the time I prefer the freedom of a monitor, even if it lacks the wow factor of VR.
If VR is such a big thing, why are very few AAA studios bothering to release VR content? Gosh, they must be so annoyed that some smaller studios are raking in billions because of their obvious oversight, not!

Never mind though, I'm sure something big in VR is only a few years away...

Oh, wait, the same thing was being said a few years ago too...

And FD has the right to toss it aside as another rant from a nobody player, like we all are here.

If you think they care how long you have played, boy do I have news for you...
Yeah, bad player reception to a product doesn't count for much....
Looking at the numbers and loss in stock price and the obvious desparation in releasing a flawed product to placate their shareholders I suspect they are!
...I mean it's not like it's knocked a quarter billion off the company's market capitalzation or anything, oh wait...
Such a demanding attitude based on empty arguments.

Please be more constructive. This really does not help your case. You are just angry. I understand you invested a lot of money in your VR equipment.
...exasperation displaces enthusiastic constructiveness, the absolute most popular suggestion of all time in this forum from @VR Golgot asking for the hacky janky low dough "slap a VR head cam on the avatar and call it VR-on-foot" is point blank ignored by the company, despite numerous pings and invites, not a singe staff comment. So now we are antsy as frack...
My "father" told me when I was growing up that salt cooled my food down so not only am I incredibly gullible I also have high cholesterol.
...Man you are even more stupid than you thought, salt doesn't give you cholesterol, it hardens your arteries, your cholesterol is naff all to do with "your father's" culinary advice, but everything to do with your dietary choices...
I have, as you can see in my videos, 4 monitors. I think I'm winning on the monitor front
...you enjoy that set up, I won't spoil your triumphant moment of winning the forum by telling you what I run...
Oh I know mate. Digital art here.

Gotta have me my reference monitor, canvas monitor, and most importantly, a monitor with anime running.
...Don't know if you're taking a urine sample there or not, but if you aren't, given what I've seen you say about your eyesight, good on you for overcoming your ocular challenges to be a visual artist, bravo budgie-boy....
I like Elite VR for ship pew pew but anything beyond that is boredom central.
...The first part of that statement is proof of what VR brings to the table, the second part is a product of some of the bad design choices the game has made. However, you can have another tick on your bingo sheet, immersion... BTW do you have bingo wings? Oanyways, in VR I find doing the "boring" stuff is more immersive, virtually being the commander outwith the pilots seat would complete the immersion, but that fade to black to grey burqua looking at the game like its rendered on a low res screen in a virtual purgatory does to the immersion what I'd guess a dose of brewers droop would do to an evening in a brothel.

The OP is just waiting for Chris Roberts to press the VR switch. Then it'll REALLY take off.
