They did.
During Premium Beta, the package included a LEP, and was advertised as something like "...yada yada, before it is removed from the store forever!!1!". Year later they re-introduced it again. Only this time, they asked more money for it.
They also sold a very limited wire frame cobra paint job for €20,-. Year later there was another one, but this time they jumped the shark by making it a golden one (you had to look thrice), instead of white. So I admit, they indeed learned from their first mistake.
I play my game and buy my paint jobs, but I won't buy any limited stuff again.
