Cobra Mk V

Or to simplify everything: if you want to follow Elite Dangerous in the future and be in sync with all the updates, ships etc. - all major upgrades are mandatory. At least at some point.

Simple as that.

So I bought one for arx - early access; I can now buy Cobra Vs from space port shipyards ( that carry them) - I now have two!!!! It was a tad over $1M credits; I.e. it seemed like a bargain.

Yes - great addition. One is set up for bounty hunting; the other just general purpose. A commander mentioned setting theirs up as a Xeno build- too bad the war is ending as I think it would be a great addition to the fleet

Made full AX build, heavy duty deep plate. 3.5k hull. Expecting heavy, slow. Clunky.
Jumped in, left station, flipped it around a bit.
"Wow, that's fast"
Realise it only had 2 pips in Engines
Put 4 pips in engines
<BWOOOOSH>
<Face ripped off>

Went to Cocijo. Boosted away from hyperdictions. Thargoids too slow to care about. Make zero effort to stay cool. Too busy flipping and boosting to care. Slapped the Titan around a bit. Lost a few thousand hull, burned up a few modules, good times. Decide to leave. Punch a flaming hole in space while flipping the bird on the way out. Literally zero worries.

New favourite ship. Fitting tribute to the original game. Thank you Frontier for making my inner 8 year old extremely happy.
care to share your build link pls?

As far as I understand the base game of Нorizonts there are always 2 variants, Legacy and Lives.

You're wrong.

So Alien, it is not:
That just makes it more confusing

Horizons Legacy is the old game. Different graphic, hyperspace jump differs, on planet surfaces the mountains the are sharp (not cheese), windshield in the cockpit has tiny scratches all over, etc etc. And the galaxy is frozen in time, no actions after the split (I don't know the exact year of the split, was away from the game at the time) have any influence on the world in Legacy. For all intents and purposes, you can forget it exists - it's like some different game.
(I guess it uses some old section of the servers, locked for Legacy)

4.0 LIVE is the existing universe, full-on Odyssey, except you don't have on-foot elements - no DISEMBARK button, you're tied to your seat -, can't land on atmospheric planets (meaning no Spires etc) and you can't purchase new SCO-engineered ships for silver even if they become available in Odyssey - no Python II, no Type-8.

But your actions influence BGS, PP, Thargoid wars etc.

It's true you can't purchase the new ships for credits, they are available for Horizons 4.0 players for ARX though.

Have you noticed that the Cobra Mk V only barely fits a small landing pad?

Interesting shot, thanks for posting that. I can see now how it could have settlement landing pad issues if they didn't adjust the hit boxes precisely enough.

I also wonder if their decision to make it small-pad came rather late, and whether they simply just resized the ship by x% to make it just about fit on a small pad.

A more closeup view. The wing goes over the yellow line, but at least it's inside the railing. So it technically physically fits the small landing pad.

Sure, but:
Odyssey: $15 normally, $9 right now
Cobra V: 16,520 ARX (Mandalay Standard: 16,520 ARX normally, 9,912 right now)
ARX: $4 for 5000, $7 for 8820, $13 for 17700

If you're going to spend $13/$11 on one ship.. why not buy Odyssey, for less right now, or just $2/$4 more normally, and get 2 (eventually to be 4) ships?
