I didn't discover the forums until after getting the game, but I too have an allergy to drama, and play in Mobius. These days the worst I can expect from another player is that he doesn't return my "o/", and I don't think that's ever happened.
As for open, I'm on ED for my benefit and enjoyment, so Solo/Mobius it is. if I wanted to be someone's helpless plaything I'd buy a studded leather collar.

As for CODE, aren't they active in EVE too?
Normally I'd be irked by the idea of a massive player alliance perverting what is ostensibly a single player game - with support for a deliberately size-limited group of players (a-la multicrew or wings) - and trying to throw its weight around to the detriment of everyone else in arather juvenile and tasteless "look at us, we are CODE, ph33r us!" type way, but since here at least we have the option of mobius or solo, I'm glad that's the route I took.
As for CODE's influences in my game, I've never heard of them, I've never seen them, I have no intention of allowing that to change. Dumping a load of magic the gathering cards on a chess game in progress doesn't suddenly stop it being a game of chess.
Not sure myself but from all the banter here, I'm beginning to think CODE is a solo-only group of players. Jury's still out though.

Gotta love these "EVE" like player imposed "blockades". Easily defeated with a simple solo/open switch. They want this game to be an open only sooo bad they are practically foaming the mouth. They are used to their actions having some kind....anykind of impact on the community. Now these days it's: "I'm Sorry...who are you guys again? Oh a minor role-playing group posting in the forums......must be a slow news day"..
