Code action against CoR

The reaction n itself isn't really a problem Goose, it's the fact that to prove a point some posters oversimplify it and go straight for the nuclear option of, "if I pirate someone I'm gonna get banned". This totally ignores the sliding scales and deterrents in terms of docking restrictions, system permit revokes, greater NPC responses and a whole myriad of other things in order to, in my opinion quite deliberately, make any proposal sound far more Draconian than it actually is.

I dont think it does. If you relish playing a badboy, the earlier ingame things will be part of the 'content' for them and welcomed. The 'final solution' of shadowbanning and antigriefing tool utilisation shouldnt even be floated by a developer in such a discussion.

To be clear before the inevitable misquoted accusation from someone, I dont mind shadowbanning being in the game. I dont mind the idea of it being used for the right reasons. However, I dont want to see it used for the wrong reasons, particularly when its to dilute current open world mode players game experiences to encourage people who have no intent of playing open to dabble in that experience.

Not quite. Some people choose to play in Solo and are perfectly happy with it. For many players, even in open or PG they are effectively playing solo most of the time anyway.

Shadowbans as far as i know are more than sticking them in solo. They are stuck in a place where they can't affect the BGS either.

Not being able to affect the BGS.... Yes that is what keeps me from exploiting and cheating... HAHAHAHA

But Mobius does limit the P options in the PvEvP options available so they have a valid complaint

No, they don't as they are ignoring the obvious counters to their own position : choice of platform (You can't interact with another platform player); you have time zones in the equation (so unless you mount a 24/7 vigilante you're always going to miss people); there's the instancing system (you are not guaranteed to be instanced with someone even if they are in the same sector - Internet line quality is taken into account for instancing); and by far and large the most laughable counter to their position is that the game isn't designed around PvP-Combat ... You might be able to engage in it when all the ducks are lined up (platform / timezone / instancing / choice of social filter) but it's main purpose is not to be that kind of game*

*You can, if you want, make ED that kind of game for yourself by exclusively hunting other players (for example) but by doing so you have to accept the limitations of that choice and the design decisions taken by FD.

The difference is that those are real world issues or technical limitations where you might bump into the other player, rather than a wall deliberately thrown up by the other player to 100% avoid direct confrontation.

Well, i would hope what keeps you from exploiting and cheating is that you are a decent person.

But shadowban is just a slap on the wrist. Basically a "don't do it again". I would hope that repeat offenders get more than that.

That is covered by "game isn't designed around PvP-Combat" that I stated. You can PvP-Comabt if you want but that doesn't mean everyone else has to as well.

Playing in a PG to avoid direct PvP-Combat is a personal player choice .. the game was designed that way from the outset. (Wouldn't have been my choice but as it is I will defend it all the same)

I think the 'last resort' has to come into the discussion Goose, I honestly am struggling to see a scenario where Sandy would mention such a thing if it wasn't identified as required by Frontier. It is undeniable that there are some fringe behaviours by some in this game that are going to require further action.

You seem to saying that maybe not being able to find you and stop you is exactly the same as it being impossible to find you and stop you because you clicked the "I'm safe" button.

Is that what you meant?

And I have friends in a number of open PMFs who have the full range of platforms and time zones in their membership so those issues are never an absolute block.

There is an I'm safe button? :O

Why was i not informed? Never again shall i die an ignominious death to an NPC!
I'll be happy to give you lessons in how to run from NPCs. I can do that 100% of the time even with 3 different Elite conda NPCs chain interdicting me in my T9. Its 100% safe if you want it to be in the right PG or solo mode.

NPCs are only an issue if you want to fight them, and even then most are no challenge even in my T9.

So "safe button" is pretty accurate barring stupidity or a monumental muck up if that's what you want and have better than noob skills who are still learning the ropes.

Lessons how to run from NPCs? Ha! Easy mode.

Real CMDRs like me choose not to follow those lessons and bumble like a noob when interdicted. Every encounter is dicey. But you pantsies go right ahead and git gud and learn your safe mode lessons.

People still play this game for the multiplayer? open = lol solo = grindfest. best choice, quit everything

Did you know that killing another player doesn't have ANY direct influence on the BGS? You would counter his actions way more efficient by playing the BGS yourself rather than wasting your time searching for him. This argument doesn't make any sense, please stop using it ;)
