Stupid move guys and girls, where do you think the Thargiods will attack first ? 2 human colonies far from human space that has little chance of any military support from the major powers.
Might as well paint R.I.P on the stations because unless there's a massive change in drive technology to allow quick response to any threat then there just dead men walking.

Let's take what we know so far and try and draw some conclusions:

Here is what I would have you consider about your proposal. The alien everything are found around or near the bubble, The VAST majority of occupiers are in the bubble. We have no idea if they are Thargoids or something else. I have been in deep space since May, so unless something has changed we really don't know what the heck has been found. . . For all we know the ruins are another failed civilization destroyed long ago by thargoids or themselves.

So could they swarm over a barely populated place in space? Yeah maybe but why? The only realistic reason for picking on such a small gathering would be as recon. They could observe with little fear of being identified, strikes would be out of the question as such a small population would quickly become alerted to anything unusual and possibly get word out as warning. If they didn't care and just wanted to crush us, yeah that would be quick, but what can you do?

I would recon the much larger populated bubble. The huge expanse and fully populated area would give you a much more accurate appraisal of capabilities as well as behavior. It is big enough that if you wanted to test your abilities a small encounter could go unnoticed if handled properly. Get information on power centers, ship numbers, technology, shipping routes, logistical bottle necks. . .

Right now Colonia is serving as an Ark. Bring plenty of breeding options mein Fuehrer..

On behalf of Imperial Cartography Unit I've filled in the application. I have worries that Colonia Council wouldn't approve the faction but first of all, our long range exploration wing made it among 10% best contributors to creating Colonia Hub. Second, I feel it would be nice to have some ground for future diplomacy.

So should I stay or should I go? Will the resources needed for this initiative be available locally, or will they have to be imported from the bubble, or both?
I'm guessing that there will be various CG's for this that and the other... Probably mining & bounty hunting (local), and exploration data, but will there be CG's to bring colonists/equipment/specialised commodities only available in the bubble to Colonia? Will there be passengers in the bubble wanting to emigrate to Colonia?

Fair comments there CMDR. I too have been around jaques since it was found. We have already contributed to get the system up & running through our actions both before & during CG's were put in place to help the area. Iv participated in every single CG & Im currently on my 9th trip to jaques, bringing in more data to sell.

I suspect though that for those of us that have contributed GREATLY already, that these actions will be ignored.

I fear that the end result will be like the Dangerous Games fiasco, where the results will depend on a popularity contest of who has the most members, doing CG's that aren't even around Colonia & some of the 'winners' will have never even been near the system.

I hope not. But previous actions from FD look to be pointing that way.

Added: Zac, sorry if I offend but I like others have been around jaques/Colonia since it was found & have put in literally weeks of gameplay trying things out with others to get the BGS going & keeping up interest in Jaques. I don't want to see my efforts ignored & offered to someone who hasn't even viewed the place on the Galaxy Map

Yes I have & I too welcome anyone that makes the trip out to Colonia. I want to see a peaceful expansion of the region, not all the political fighting that occurs in bubble 1.

I just hope that one of the CG's isn't a pewpew one, some CMDR's & groups just don't do pewpew.

I suppose when all the fine details of this initiative are finally revealed to us all, then it's up to each applicant to decide with their group if the venture is still a viable proposition. Until then it's all speculation & guesswork.

I hope people are taking note of the tone of some of these posts. People are putting things in terms of how they are more deserving than others. . . People Colonia will only remain peaceful if we decide to keep it peaceful. There will be enough pirates migrating out there and other hooligans, we need to stay strong and check our ego's at the door. Trust the process and support each other.

Dumb question, but could I invent my own faction and submit it even though I'm the only one in it? I'm not the most popular guy in the galaxy, so even though I belong to a player group or two, and have lots of online "friends" here (mainly due to Distant Worlds), I don't expect people to rally behind the banner of The Mysturjian Mining, Exploration, Trading & Anti-Piracy Co-Operative.

The Jolly Roger Robbery Company has so far been nomadic in nature, due in part to the nature of our business interests.

Going forward it has been decided that a permanent base of operations would suit our developing corporate needs and we have therefore applied to Colonia to form our first outpost.
