Colonia trip with my new Fleet Carrier Navigation Computer

Yes CMDR’s, another “I’m going to Colonia with the Fleet Carrier and who wants to join” post ;)

I made the trip to Colonia before in the BETA 2 and the functionality that I was missing the most was to be able to schedule multiple jumps with the FC. That’s why I build my own Navigation Computer that can autonomously jump the carrier as far as the tritium in the tank and hold allows it to jump.
I tested the Navigation Computer with some short trips (5 to 7 consecutive 500 LY jumps) the last couple of hours to sort out the bugs in the programming. It looks like it’s ready for it’s first big test, 44 jumps from Diso to Colonia.
So anybody interested in joining (with a fleet) to Colonia to test the Navigation Computer? I will depart in about 24 hours from Diso on Monday afternoon 15th of June at 20:00 local Spanish time (18:00 UTC). Total trip of 44 jumps will take about 15 hours (if the navigation software is not glitching). The carrier will stay in and around Colonia for a week and will return somewhere on or after next weekend. Carrier is in the Diso system at the moment and will stay there till tomorrow.

CMDR: Kuif
Carrier Name: Black Pearl - ID: (V20-J1M)
Active modules: Refuel, Repair, Armoury, Shipyard

Although I have enough Tritium for the journey any donation of tritium is welcome. I will open up a cheap buy order for Tritium for CMDR’s that like to donate for the trip.

Let me know in this thread if you are joining or send a friend request in game

Maybe I sign on for the trip back next weekend, I've just arrived at Colonia this afternoon on a hitchhike trip on the Fleet carrier Odyssey.

"Maybe" because I've got to unlock the engineers here first, that was my main intention for the trip.

Edit/P.S.: however I'm really interested in the result of your experiment and also in your Nav Software, too.

Uh oh. I sense trouble. Not sure how well received bots/macros are.
At first impression, this doesn't sound like anything more advanced than what Voice Attack can do, combined with a pre-plotted route in a text file. Provided that it's not doing anything more than providing some button presses on a timer, I think it's well within the range of automation that has traditionally been (unofficially) allowed.

It might have been worth giving some thought to the fact that the design of carrier navigation means that long distance travel can be trivially automated. But that ship has now sailed, both figuratively and literally.

I read that little spiel about calling your carrier regardless where in the galaxy you are, but that seems like a misnomer. It seems you cannot get your carrier to you if it requires more than 1000T of tritium to get there, unless your carrier can automatically re-donate what you have in the hold for the trip.

Maybe I am missing something. How exactly do you get around the 1000T tank limit and automatically refuel without being on the carrier to transfer to your ship then donate?

You need an alt account or someone else onboard the ship. I use an old PS4 account, permanently based on my carrier in case my main account is not on the ship.

If no other ships are on my carrier (and only the 1000 tonne tank was left, I am looking at a range of around 3,600LY before it runs dry.

Regarding macro's, we've been doing jump/plotter macro's with Voice attack for many years now.

Navigation computers are cool. How does it work?

The computer takes a plotter route from spansh (exported CVS file) as input and then automatically plot the next jump for the Fleet Carrier. After the jump it will donate Tritium to the depot and restock the Tritium in your ships cargo hold from the Fleet Carrier's hold. During the cooldown it will plot the next jump and commit the jump after the cooldown timer expires.

This Navigation Computer only works when you are docked aboard you Fleet Carrier. It will use your docked ship to transfer fuel from the Carrier Hold to your ships hold and donate the fuel to the depot.

All aboard!!! The Black Pearl is leaving for Colonia in four and a half hours 🙂

--- Update:
Final Boarding Call.... Departure in 45 minutes....

Navigation Computer is loaded with the following flight plan:

Let me know if you are onboard for the journey... You can also send a friend request in-game.

I made it just in time to Diso with one of my Alt commanders, docked 6 minutes ago… Will provide some Tritium when we arrive at Colonia, didn't have the time to get some before the trip as it was a rather short fused decision… again… 🤦‍♂️

I guess I'll take two passages then on the tour back... 🤷‍♂️

Have enough Tritium for the trip to Colonia, appreciate donations for the way back. Welcome aboard and enjoy the inflight entertainment system 😜

I hope Frontier doesn't have a problem with this type of constructive automation! They really shouldn't! This feature is something they should have added into the game!

It's just too bad we would have to have a dedicated computer actively running the game to do it. That wouldn't be the case if they'd just added the feature.

Considering how much this game relies on 3rd party websites, why would this tool be any different?
Because game automation is a bit different. Most game automation has been considered cheating in the past. Google it at various sources and read up on the history.

I can say one thing though, if Frontier did crack down on this it would be VARY hypocritical given they'd not fully cracked down on actual violations in many cases.

It is frowned upon, due to people using them for powerplay etc, those tend to include software to fly the player ship. This tool is more about moving carriers long range, something that should have been included with the launch.
Exactly!

This is much less of a violation, if it is one at all. It really shouldn't be a problem given Frontier's lack of response to worse in the past.

I agree. Evidently it must be one of degree when someone has an elite AI fighter pilot take control of his ship while he flies the fighter.
