Colonisation Answers

Can anyone explain what happened here? I chose one location for a Satellite and it was built and placed in a different spot. It even added another location at the asteroid field. Originally there was only one, now shows two.

It looks like the satellite has to orbit around a planetary body - even an asteroid field qualifies.

Placed in that slot it should have been orbiting the star. But maybe there was some funky stuff going on where the selected placement location was close enough to the asteroids to be considered as orbiting them instead.

Meanwhile, I’m a bit ‘meh’ at the fact that the game obstinately refuses to let me put down anything but an asteroid station in a slot assigned to an asteroid belt. What if I don’t want to or might not have the possibility of getting enough T1 construction points to do so?

I can see that making sense, but if that were the case how hard would it to have put that in the description?? What is strange is that the construction platform is still there too. I can land on it still and get fuel.

The construction platforms seem to be permanent. I've got several of them floating around long after outposts etc are finished.

Anyone else got an updated system state?
Yes - it seems really easy right now to push factions into Investment (and non-Anarchy factions into Investment+Lockdown) with very little effort even allowing for the low system population.

Not clear yet whether this is permanent instability for colonised systems for some reason, or will go away over time as you build up population, wealth, security, etc.

Ah, right. All four factions in the system are investing, 2 Anarchy and 2 straight ones. Not sure whether I've ever seen all a system's factions of one mind before but that may just be a consequence of the new systems going live.

I haven't seen any state changes within my system (but also haven't done any trading or anything in it, beyond building) however the security bar has gotten quite... 'interesting'. By which I mean it's a lot of white and yellow bar is absolutely tiny, with just a little bit reserved for red. Until I build some of the stations that supposedly reduce security, anyway...

... also been wondering, if looking for economy influence/value, would an Odyssey settlement or one of the Horizons installations provide more?
