Color variation comparison thread

First time ever i found an albino/leucistic animal in the animal market in sandbox mode. A completely white Lemur.

And i also found a black jaguar the first time in the animal market (sandbox) too. But its true, theyre still really rare. Havent seen another one yet.

This little girl popped up in my sandbox zoo. I know its not a variation, but it confirms the leucistic Kangaroo. I havent seen one before.

The Zoopedia explains very clearly why the hyena social needs are as they are in-game.

But it makes keeping them extremely difficult since after one breeding they can be at each other's throats. 6-10 individuals would be better than just 2-4, and still keeps with the fission-fusion society that the clan lives under.

Moreover, like the zebras, having such unrealistically small group sizes makes having them in something like, say, a safari park, not worth it. People will never see them because you can only have so few in one single exhibit.

Where does it explain this? I thought it would be behind the Numbers for the Social Requirements. I think there are Zoos that keep more than 4 Spotted Hyenas (3 if you don't want them to fight all the Time😑)

Seems the color names don't mean much though, since there seems to be a lot of individual variation in a single color name. For example, two screenshots, one of yellow dingos, the other of white dingos. Can you guess which is which?

Which means as I do more species, I'll have to buy a bunch of each color to find the better representative. Already done that for dingo and warthog, didn't take screenshots yet for those though. Here are all the animals I've already done:

I might even redo a few once I've done them all, like bongos, for which I've seen very strong variations, which aren't reflected in the ones I got.

I just stuffed a habitat with male lions to see if there were any significant differences. It's veeeeery subtle. No changes in the manes as far as I can tell (which is a shame as I'd love to see both more sandy coloured manes and also darker ones) The variations in fur colour is definitely there but hard to spot from afar:

Pretty sure the color names don't fit the animals, but that's what it said.

Yeah, Frontier and skin color names don't really go well together. I mean just look at the JWE skin names and descriptions and what you actually get xD

And as much as I appreciate the fact that we finally have some variation, it's really kinda a shame that the variants are so subtle you practically have to go look for them with a magnifying glass in most cases. I really would've liked them to be a little more prominent so you can at least spot them from a certain distance as well, especailly since many of us spend most of our time playing in birds view and not zoomed in on the animals.

I think it's a great update and hopefully makes it much easier for more variations to keep being added bit by bit in the future. That's my hope.

Some subtles are more noticeable than others. Mandrills are very noticeable, but labelled as subtle, while big cats are hard to distinguish, despite being mostly called mediums.

I didn't just refer to the subtle variants but them as a whole and like I said it's in most cases not all. I mean the Llamas are great but in most animals you won't really notice it unless you really look for it. And yeah, the whole subtle, medium, major thing doesn't really fit either, which yeah, nothing new xD

I'm soo happy to see more sandy, desaturated lions<3 I hope they will have more mane variations, too, but these look amazing<3
