Here's another idea that would be truly colossal: Hundreds or even thousands of new galaxies, a brand new awfully big and expensive 'exo-galactic' drive included.

It's either going to be PL or announcement of the PS4 version. The thing is, is PL "something secret"? MB mentioned back in January that they had added people to the team to work on the paid expansions (from memory I think he used the words "paid expansions" rather than "planetary landings" so...).
Then again it could be yet another meta layer to the game that none of us have foreseen - after all we didn't see Powerplay coming (yeah yeah tier 1 NPCs were in the DDF bla bla)

The announcement regarding what they have been working on for "PC and Mac" won't be the PS4 version.
Unless they are going to have us run it on some kind of emulator?

Since one of the contest rewards is to name a planet, it's almost certainly Planetary Landings.
I remember the hype that surrounded the lead-up to the turkey that was PP. So with this in mind I'm limiting my expectations.
Still, I've never been one to pass up a chance of adding to the idle speculation. So based on what other people have said, I'm thinking it will be planetary landings (with limited functionality).

I'm thinking (which is a rarity in itself) that the colossal announcement will be the imminent (within the next decade) release of a whole bunch of (3 or 4) new paint jobs for some (2 or 3) of the existing ships.... But not the Anaconda... Oh, and a new ship, the Imperial Federation Eagle Mk IVb, with extra go-faster stripes.

I think Frontier should "announce" Plandings even if they haven't done an iota of work on them.
David Braben should live stream himself saying "Yes, planetary landings and all that is coming."
Behind him Michael Brookes should pull a small unimpressive party popper.
As the colourful paper floats to the ground we'll hear Braben's final words "We're working really hard on that. So see you soon bye now. The announcement is over".
That way everyone will be wrong in some way and this guy still has to eat his sock.
The forums will react with the same spontaneous disappointment either way.

Heard a whisper that to increase funding at Frontier they are actually going to be producing Onionhead at several sites in Colombia and distributing it via the dark web........you didn't hear it from me right?
