Come back from deep space to new UI and Moronic gameplay

so I came back from deep space to find UI changes and a moronic gameplay environment..essentially killing my view of the game.
so given that the old UI was working fine I wounder wh they changed it, here are some of th issues iv ncounteredin one afternoon

1. this foru is massively lagy and a lot o my typed keys dnt register so forgive me
2. Cargo doesn't auto load and given my VR setup I cannot click the zone to load, so I cncelled mission and got a fin 412k..wow
3. decided to try bounty hunting with y turret machine. my trrets got me a 5000 bountyfor swiping a friendly. theyare set top target only so im guessing thsis a bug BUT now im stuck in my home system on m base andi cannot access anything to pay off bounty...odd cause iould have paid it but the game must want me to log out for a week until the bounty clears to play again...unless there is amagic way to pay fines?
4. I am afraid to get a 100 credit fine now caue I will have to leave game for a week , this presumes the new STUPID system what ever it is, eliminates my bounty after a week.

WHAT ON EARTH were the DEVS thinking making a game play experience that was fun, now super onerous and not fun at all.
super super disapointing

I think the cargo doesn't autoload because you have the option now to only load some of it.

You can pay off a fine at any station where the faction that fined you is present, or, of course, at Interstellar Factors.

I tried to pay off at 2 interstellar factions, none would let me. so it did cost me a bit but I took everything off the ship and sold it and bought another and put gear back on. that worked. 5000 fine cost me 2 mil though..gotta be a better system to manage this.

sadly my VR system doesn't allow me to click the area where it needs to be clicked to load it. I needed to change to 2d load it then go back to VR. very annoying

Was it a Fine or a Bounty?

If it was a fine you should have been able to pay it off at a IF. If it was a bounty which 5000 usually is for a murder. You might have had notoriety and you have to wait 2 hours for it to wear off.

When that happens you just need to go to another system for 2 hours and work there. Then go pay off the bounty at a IF.

said bounty, but was a turret swipe over a ship so not my fault. in any case I lost 40 mil as I sold python to clear it as I could not find way to pay off fine. I tired to read the new crime and punishment system..way to complicated for me unfortunately. I will place ticket to get cash back and re consider going back into deep space to avoid the insanely odd system they created, otherwise my blood pressure will kill me form the anger.

My guess is you swiped the ship and probably got a 400cr fine, but it was destroyed shortly after by another ship so you were rewarded with the kill and upgraded to a 5k bounty.
Because of that, your notoriety was likely at (1) so you have to waste some time in game (2 hrs I think) for it to go back to (0) where you can pay it off at interstellar factors.

Next time you could calm down a bit and ask how to pay off the fine rather than just getting wound up and loosing yourself millions. We can not help after you have done this, only beforehand...

there is nothing wrong with the changes, you just need to get used to them. The cargo missions one is particularly useful now - but I admit to having not collected my cargo before leaving the station - but that was my fault, not an excuse to whine about the game.

Says you.

Personally, I'd much prefer to have the old one click "accept and load" button added back in.

Not every change to the game is going to be perceived as an improvement to everyone.

And those who don't like the changes absolutely have the right to post their feedback in the company's forum.

Hopefully other forum goers will be wise enough to accept that not everyone has the same opinion, and allow other players to post their own opinions without replying with insults because they feel differently.

No change to anything is ever perceived as an improvement by everyone, just some are more popular than others. I do not see any aggression in Para Handy's post, and certainly no insults. He is just expressing his opinion like everyone else...

Not heard anyone else complaining about the mission system in VR - might be worth posting a less ragey question in the VR subforum. (Note for future: Rant posts usually go in DD, not the subforums)

Edit: And as if by magic .... ;)

No worries

This is so you can part deliver. I use VR and you do not need to use the mouse in the UI at all. I suggest you look at your bindings.

Go to a low sec or anarchy system and pay off bounty at Intersteller factors contact

4. I am afraid to get a 100 credit fine now caue I will have to leave game for a week , this presumes the new STUPID system what ever it is, eliminates my bounty after a week.
A fine can be paid off at the security contact in the local jurisdiction without issue.

Nope, it seem reasonably okay to me, it's you that needs to learn how things work. Instead of having a go at the devs, maybe you should ask the community for help. Ignorance is not an excuse.

Sorry meant to quote OP, not Max.

Deleted quote:

IMHO, The new cargo mission where you have to load from the depot, are a real plus. It means i can take mission with a greater cargo than my Python can do, and i can do it in two or three trips.
I use Rift and have no issue loading or unloading. Just keep your head still whilst clicking on the + or - sign.
The C&P is a bit Meh! but once you are used to it it's still Meh, but you just get on with it!

Agreed. I don't use the mouse at all when in VR. I just curser over to the + sign and press and hold. Easy.

Agreed with the C&P. I would prefer if the bounty and notoriety was the other way round. So that notoriety was on the ship (Look out it's that notorious ship that keeps attacking newbie sidewinders) and the bounty is on the player. It would make much more sense that way. Plus it future proofs it if/when space legs gets released and you won't have the issue with hot modules.

My VR setup:

Between the various buttons and the Belkin I very rarely need the mouse. If I do I have no problem as my hand just "knows" where it is.

The whole thing sits on my lap.

I've only ever played ED in Oculus VR and after 1,500 hours+ in game, although the galaxy map is still a pain in VR (especially as Frontier have refused to incorporate a virtual keyboard for PC players), I've never experienced any difficulty whatsoever using either the mouse or my HOTAS when using the mission UI.

Regarding the new partial loading system, yeah it's a pain when you forget to load it but it also enables you to accept missions even before completing the current mission.

I recently became Elite in Trading and have to say that the new system makes life much easier...as long as you remember to load the cargo before setting out on your journey...but that's down to you, not the game.

I just use the hat on my the joystick of my HOTAS to navigate to the depot and collect the cargo when I use my Oculus Rift VR setup. The trigger on the joystick will select whatever is highlighted on the menu.

In response:
  1. I'd recommend checking your internet connection.
  2. Take a look at your key bindings. If you can navigate to the mission board you should be able to navigate to the load cargo button.
  3. This is most likely not a bug. What probably happened is that your target used chaff causing your turret fire to scatter. While your turrets were busy shooting in every direction but at your target, you accidentally hit a clean ship or an authority vessel. This friendly fire, as it always has, led to a bounty being placed on your head.
  4. Fines can be paid off at any station operated by the offending faction. Assuming of course that you aren't wanted in that jurisdiction as well. If you are, just head over to an interstellar factors office. As long as you didn't destroy any clean ships your notoriety will be zero and you can pay off the bounty immediately.
