Common suggestions to improve Elite: Dangerous

Some great ideas people.

I would like to add:

1: Radio/MP3 Player
2: Trading Computer
3: Saved Waypoints
3: Hire Ships (We can hire out our spare ships to real and NPC players). Now you can hire a good ship for an hour per day and try it out before you buy one. You could also influence a system or faction with a wave of hired ships. New Career mode.
4: Spare Parts Garage. I would like to stock my parts for when needed

I also LOVE the idea of nameing stars and planets that have not been discovered. That would make exploring so much more interesting! Way cool idea :)

Thank you all. This is a great thread!

just one for me

Fix the stuttering

- Increase or get right of the "Battle Buble": NPC ship disappears into thin air (no surge no jump) when you fight with them and it happens that they hit a certain distance radius from the central point (20km for cluster as example). I lost many good bountys and hours gaeming in total because of this bad gamemeachanics.

Please refrain from reporting bugs/problems, this is a thread for creativity and ideas only, something that's not currently in the game.

Thanks

2: Trading Computer

Hey Papa, care to explain this a little bit more? I didn't include it since it's unclear what trading computer would be, and we already have ideas for captain's log/notes/memo.

Interesting locations.
Seems like all there is are either asteroid belts, nav points or empty USS pockets.
Where are capital ship carcasses to fight in and around? Where are massive asteroid mines with tunnels and buildings to look out for? Where are abandoned/pirate stations that you fight around?

yep

and the military bases that you would get jobs to nuke / photograph back in Elite 2: Frontier

always liked those jobs. They would tell you the system /planet but you'd still have to go searching to find them, then once you got a certain distance in, all sorts of military ships would start attacking you!

Sure, I was thinking something that logs and saves the prices of each station you visit. No need to go into the station, just stay outside and use your trading computer to scan whats available and save that data. Great for scouting out those great traide runs in a smaller ship and come back with your trader and run those goods dry :)

I don't really know to be honest. Just some kind of trading computer/scanner or something simular to make trading more in-line with our super tech spaceships. Maybe limit it to a few system capacity. But trading needs some cool tool to make sense of it all.

Btw, leave my sheild cells alone!!! My Python needs them. If you touch my cells I will not only kill you and your faction. I will kill your factions friends and their friends factions too! :p

Huh, that's a nice load of nice ideas (in general). I'm not so keep about "micro jumping" however - except at Alpha Centauri, obviously.

Done.

If I understood correctly, it couldn't be used often because it would drain your fuel tank pretty quickly (maybe even in one use). This requires heavy balancing, obviously, but the rough idea is there.

I would like to see a mechanic that allows you to convert lets say a cargo slot into another hardpoint. So you could have a Sidewinder that has no cargo areas, but has another couple of extra hardpoints on the top or bottom.
This would have to be expensive to do though. Just more flexability with how you can outfit your ships.

Maybe after getting a certain level with a hi-tech faction, you might (if you're lucky - rare chance) get an option to do a job for a 'Ship customiser / scrapyard dealer" where afterwards you can choose a reward - on overpowered weapon or component, or an extra hardpoint etc.

not sure if this might take too much code breaking! but at least overpowered weapons etc. are in the game...

Please elaborate a little bit further, I can't read your mind :)

Sorry. Meant when you look at the list while in a system, you can filter it to show just stations, or just planets, helpful when the list is really really long.

THIS. quite often if i browse out to a planet right on the edge, and nothing inbetween it and the star is discovered, i cant reset the map back, and have to exit completely and come back in. except if i havent SELECTED the system in galaxy map, i then have to go find the system again. very irritating...

(but this is more of a bug than a feature addition...)

Could add filters to other panels as well. Filter contacts to only show hostiles, or filter subsystems by category such as weapons, utility, etc.

Savings account so you can save a certain amount of credits to cover your insurance.
Or just save up for the Anaconda.

- the ability to "tag" systems on the galaxy map with custom tag-strings, for which can be searched and filtered (subsumes a few of the other ideas here)
- selection of a planet or station in system view should be target it ingame as well (or at least there should be such an option)
- communicate shield and weapon strength better, I still have no idea about how good beams compared to a projectiles are, the whole system is a mystery. The outfitter is a mess...
