As has been stated many times, of the 100 devs working on Elite the majority are producing New Era for late 2020 (and have been since Summer 2018). The remainder (skeleton crew as you call it) are working on the small interim updates to the live game.

Can you link to anywhere on these forums as to where this information is publicly posted? I'm guessing no.

What you just posted makes zero sense. And here's why. Feel free to contradict me.

FC have just been postponed in place of fixing all the outstanding bugs. This would imply (going by your claims) that the Late 2020 team are developing code and design around a base so bugged that Frontier as a company feel it's necessary to cance current development on FCs...

It also implies, that the new content either has nothing to do with FC type design (which would lead to more disjointed design) or, the 2020 design/plan is based on FC being implemented, and therefore is going to also be at least 6 months late.

In any event, it shows that Frontier are designing content on a wholly buggy codebase.

i feel so sorry for the people who did grind billions to be "fiiiiiiiiiiiirst" on the FC by xmas.

well played FC, as stated above, sometimes you need to get out of supercruise to repair the FSD properly.
I spent a week or two after the 2nd II Painite Mining to boost my credits. In fact I increased them from about 3bn to 17.8bn.
I'm not sore at all that FC's have got pushed back, I'm assuming a price tag between 5-10bn for a FC, made some extra....just in case. That job is done now (for the time being) so I can do other stuff, like Exploring or waiting for the current II to move away from pewpew.

Don't feel sorry for me....it needed doing at some point (for most cmdr's I would guess) & I wouldn't call it a grind as I quite enjoy Mining as a change:)

I never implied that you are lying, but the fact that the payment-decision is NOT the (primary) topic of this thread, urges me to not go that road again. What was it called? "Attemp to shifting poles?"

Also, it was NOT my intention to thank FDev for the changes, but I want to thank them for the communication. My education and politeness dictates it.🤷‍♀️

I also like to be polite in life, but the polite does not take away the brave to express a fact that seems very disappointing, I have only been 1 year and my game does not have so many problems, but I think it is too slow a game for what I should offer , I guess I wasn't used to waiting so long in a video game, I still like elite, but there are incomprehensible things, being objective and totally out of dramatic discussions ,

I can simply see when they are cheating on me to keep playing. (In the cobra painting contest, they said they read all the stories ... I could see one morning, as the community manager practically pushed the "like button" to each post one after the other ... and then the result ...they are clearly lying in your face , with that ,they made me distrust if really they read the forums)

I don't want to talk about arx ,nothing can matter to me less in this life ... but tell me, am I lying? or giving a point that nobody seems to take into account? last year they were supposed to have other plans, don't distort my reasoning please.

they pulled arx out of nowhere ,you can even see the work in the new way of showing paint jobs with new graphic models, wasted time for rushing to this new idea
and abandon others, this is a fact

I hear exactly what you are saying :)

Arx > player content.

£ > player satisfaction

A slippery slope I think

Arx could be described as a QoL update. OK so it was tone-deaf and badly received. But it puts all players on the same playing field, makes buying stuff all in-game for everyone and it lets you buy cheap stuff that you couldn't before. It probably streamlines the code-base.

Sure it had advantages for the cash-flow that FD would have been blind not to notice and that was probably a large part of the reason they did it. But it could have been justified as QoL, which was what 2019 was about.

17.8 bn?

I'm doing something wrong. If the FC is in the 5-6bn price bracket, I"ll never get one. Lord above knows how much upgrades will cost

I didn't follow this contest...I can only imagine that there were simply too many (good) posts, that they gave the decision of who's the winner to RNGesus.

But whatever...I've experienced a lot of negative within the game (it would need a new thread to count them all), but I still enjoy the game. Regarding bugs: Know Thy Enemy! (ignore them, avoid them, use them to your advantage).

Yeah, I might be simple-minded, modest, but I'm relaxed. ;)

Greetings Commanders,

Following the launch of the September Update last month, we’d like to provide you all with an update on our plans for Elite Dangerous.

Firstly, thank you for all of your feedback on the September Update, which you've shared with us on the forums, across social media, on livestreams and through the Issue Tracker. There is no doubt that, in addition to the new features, the September Update introduced a number of issues and bugs which caused a lot of frustration. We are really sorry for these issues. We realise that some of the issues had an impact on your ability to enjoy Elite Dangerous. The team have been working hard to address the most critical issues and have already released a series of patches and updates to bring those fixes in as quickly as possible.

However, we know there's more to be done. You've asked for more focus on existing bug/fixes and issues, and for the community to be better integrated into the development process and testing for these upcoming updates.

In order to improve your overall experience, we have decided to refocus our efforts on addressing key issues and bugs. Since the launch of the September Update, we've been taking a deeper look at our internal development roadmap, the way in which we utilise public betas, and the content of our next updates.

Here is a summary of our plans:
  • From now and into next year (2020), the updates will focus almost exclusively on addressing recent and longstanding issues, including those reported in the Issue Tracker, ultimately making the game better.
  • We are expecting to have a series of these updates, which will be rolled out (approximately) every three to four months.
  • Each update will also include a public beta that will run prior to the update's release, with a dedicated time to address major issues that appear.
  • The first of these updates will have its public beta in December, with an expectation that the launch will be early in 2020.
As a result of our updated plans, we have made the difficult decision to defer the release of Fleet Carriers. We are now planning for Fleet Carriers to be released in an update in the second quarter of 2020, rather than in December 2019 as previously stated. This will grant us additional time to refine the feature as well as focusing time on addressing existing reported issues. It will also ensure the state of the game is in a better position to introduce Fleet Carriers, that will provide Commanders even more opportunities to interact with the Milky Way. We understand that this delay will be disappointing for some players, but do know that this decision is one that we do not take lightly, and is made with the best interests of the community and game at heart.

Ultimately, we are confident that this will improve the Elite Dangerous experience for all our players.

The team have been hard at work on the next major milestone, which you may remember we mentioned back in March as our next major paid addition to the game. They’re making fantastic progress and on schedule for release by the end of next year. We are very excited to show you what we’ve been working on. However, we can only announce the content when it’s at the right stage of development, we estimate this will be ready to talk about at some time in summer 2020, after the Fleet Carriers update. We appreciate there is a bit of a wait, but we want to make sure it is ready to be shown before making our full official announcement to the world.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing and continued support and for helping give us the feedback, steer and insight to make decisions that will benefit the entire community and for your continued passion and dedication.

after reading trough this thread it dawned me,a solution to fixing everything:

Everyone stop spending money on arx, when the income stops, the company will invest resources and get everything fixed in 3 motnhs
otherwise they will never change their way, they dont care about complaints, the only thing they understand is,they are providing a very subpar service
and still making $$$$,why would they invest anything and fix the game? its rather simple when you think it this way

Pig looks over in disgust.
It was a year ago, September
a day I well remember
I was walking up and down
in drunken pride
when my knees began to flutter
and I fell down in the gutter
and a pig came by and lay down by my side

As I lay there in the gutter
thinking thoughts I could not utter
I thought I heard a passing lady say,
"You can tell a man who boozes
by the company he chooses..."
And with that, the pig got up and walked away

To be fair I think you would need to wait and see what the new era brings (given it is the part of the Elite dev team that allegedly consumes most of its resources atm) in order to properly judge that.

Hopefully it will be positive. We can frontier watch when we think they may have started on that content, but it seems that other groups of "100 people" at frontier take 2 years to make a completely new title from relative scratch (or at least with the same headstart as base elite would bring)..

True that all we can do is wait and see what our 100 can pull off.

There's a chance that it will be.. new game, cut the cord with old consoles, move on. That would be amazing.

So disappointed. We have been looking forward to this for a long time. The December update 2019 will have to give us something. Most likely some new ships. We are kids and we want our toys.

oh man, they spent time developing that, it was not like adding a simple line of code, there is work there ( arx earnings, and new way to show paint jobs and more) ... why did they spend so much time on that if it was not planned?

I think the point being made is that Frontier felt it more worthwhile to silently work on their money grab than fix the outstanding bugs. And then for the third time are put in a position where they have to cancel content because they need to recode.

I may be completely wrong but personally, not being to visit the shop and see/buy what I want, is hardly what I'd call a QoL improvement !

i´m relaxed too, much more than those who sign letters, I don't know what you mean, I just point out what in the real life is known as a lie ,it's my only point ,

and it only took me a year to realize it

PS: in the contest ,they only chose the stories of 2 or 3 lines, none long, that's the summary, not amazing stories andI think they didn't read those either :D
