Comparing elite and eve online..

Umm, no, reason: two totally different games, Eve works fine as it is as far as I've been told by those that play it, I don't play it. Elite works fine as it is. Its new and will develop these things, you can't have everything straight away, doesn't work that way in any game.

Just lol. PLEX4gud is the saddest iteration of online buttholes trying to make other people forget they are buttholes, and trying to trick themselves into thinking they're nice dudes. Newsflash: most of this PLEX donated is bought on market, with ingame isk that's been harvested through bots in 0.0, and said botting is made possible by all the players who naively respond to CTAs and follow alliance leaders (who make RL cash out of botting).

Also, how does solidarity within a closed group prove an absence of sadism? Didn't the pillaging and vikings have solidarity for one another? Didn't all sadistic military or para-military groups have solidarity for their members?

You're a disgusting liar when you say that eve is one of the most generous communities around, it's been proven time and time again it's full of sociopaths who will go any distance (through the internet) to push people's buttons and revel in the Schadenfreude.

You will of course bring up Vile Rat and the OMG AMAZING show of solidarity eve's community displayed for the widow of a spec ops tool for the western power structure, prancing around in a destroyed Libya. His widow must have had a comfy compensation from the US military for the loss of his husband, and yet the eve community had to brown-nose the big guys at the moment (goons), and raise tens of thousands dollars for someone who didn't need them, and mourn for a guy who made a living carrying out orders for the most destructive and imperialistic military force on earth's surface atm. Political rant aside, you can clearly see that eve's community likes to coddle the bullies and pick on the weak.

As for game mechanics and your pathetic justification "but but they're the same for everybody, you also can cheese them!", do you really believe that makes bad mechanics good? Like, in eve markjet is insta accross a region, but you can't have a scan of who's hanging out at the gate next system. Because hey, if such data was available, alt scouting accounts would be useless in empire, and CCP would lose a bit of revenue : (

And as to Elite being not immersive... just lol again. Go back to eve as you clearly belong there, in one of the nicest and most generous online communities there are. No wonder goons love it, as they only enjoy making games fun for everybody!

It wasn't just the alliance mates and corp members though, but if you don't think charitable donations are a good thing that demonstrate the humanity of your fellow man and woman then okay.

I'd like to help you with your multiple system sensor array without the use of alt accounts though. Get a friend or two and ask them to scout.

I haven't played Eve for more than two months now so there you go. I also believe Eve is a dumb game with atrocious game mechanics that reward or actively doesn't discourage AFK behaviour, so it's left to the players to provide entertainment for each other.

Alliance leaders and the better corp CEO's provide content for their members and the members log in and create fun stuff. Sometimes the fun stuff happens to you, and other occasions other peoples fun times happen against you. But you do have to be there to enjoy it, and you have to enjoy it to want to be there.

I wasn't going to bring up Vile Rat as the loss is more unbearable than you can imagine. There's nothing more to discuss with you.

Please enlighten me. What's the problem with eve online? And finally can we please stop comparing it to Elite? :S

As far as social support there are plenty of great take-aways from EVE. (aka Excel Online/Spreadsheet Online) There are also plenty of pitfalls from EVE to avoid as well. I'm not saying Frontier can't take any pointers from EVE but if people want to play EVE...they should play EVE.

I have no idea why people compare those titles - completely different beasts in my opinion. I`m playing both and I can hardly see any comparison apart from vast space and spaceships.

They are currently which is the way we want to keep it.

My beef with Eve is to have any real fun means playing for hours a day, good at eve means fail at RL if you have kids and a family.

Iam an Eve player of six years or more, my worry with Eve is that it feels like a full time job!

Iam enjoying the fun of Elite

I will still play both, Eve is the child of Elite.

I don't wanna see player bases, mines, stations and whatnot. This stuff will just be another grind which is going to end up being kinda mandatory in some way if you want to reach feature X, ship Y...
I don't wanna see pvp being enforced on people. The pvp group says "play Solo" but what if I don't wanna pvp but still wanna keep my option to interact in Open in a friendly way. Which I already managed several times at stations w/o interdicting someone for the lulz. Why not get a sticky thread and meet up in a certain Anarchy system at a Nav Point and pvp away? That would be boring you say? Cuz everyone would actually agree on being blown up? Missing the griefing? :p
The way Elite manages to give everyone room to breath right now is great and I hope they keep it that way.
More social tools like a friends chat that works Galaxy wide? Yes please. Having people spam the chat inside the system like some kind of broadcast? Hell no.

Two separate games with two separate intentions in design. Pretty please, keep it that way. And adding few chat functionalities is hardly adding something from EVE but more common sense. Just leave the silly boradcasting chat stuff out - those chats always suck.

Someone else wrote a really nice post before. That Elite has already big empires and that we're all just tiny dots in the sky. That is Elite. Keep it Elite.

Eve Online was clearly inspired by Elite, it was one of the main reasons I played it for 8 years.

Now we have a new Elite and playing it you can't help but want half the features that Eve Online has. This kind of thing takes time though.
