Completing Zoo Tycoon 2: How far we've come?

Look at all those different Jaguars 😃. And the way the birds were implemented within the game (flying up and down If this is the right Game I think of) really would not make the Most people Happy for PZ I think.
I honestly have no idea what they were doing with the jaguar even the zoopedia is like these are not recognised as subspecies but we dont care we will add them anyways.

The birds and anything in the mini exhibits behaved alot like a cross between the walkthrough and regular exhibits in game they were small static boxes that let the animals run on lopped animations very boring but those small exhibits have the majority of the games diversity

Are we talking about that Zoo Tycoon for XBox? You know those are all exhibit animals, right?
Yes. They move in loops. I've seen videos. Similar to PK aviary animals but worst. I still would like them in PZ in the WTE or similar system with null options even if they move in loops

I know that... the point I was trying to make is it's weird to be excited about birds when they're just box decorations... at least, it is to me...
There are some that i absolutly want as habitat (galliformes, spoonbills, ibises, storks, cranes, waterfowl) but there are others (flying birds mostly, macaws, toucans, hummingbirds, eagles, owls, vultures, etc.) that i rahter have as looped exhibit animals than not having them at all. I like the microraptor and the archaeopteryx in PK and they are just that yet they work. Specially because their display has null options which makes it more versatile.

I agree with that. I don't know how Zoo Tycoon worked on Xbox but if Frontier's teams manage to put birds in walk-through exhibits in Planet Zoo the same way they did with bats I will be totally okay with that. In fact I think it's even better than just letting them fly free imo. What would be interesting is having modular WE like they are doing for the gift shops. This way we could decide of the size of the "boxes" in a certain range. And maybe it was the point of Frontier here? Trying to create something flexible to see if it could work for other things?

If we get the rest of the remaining species on the list, the total number of species altogether (habitat+exhibit) will be 207, which is quite a lot of species.

I just recently updated my own comparison list and found that you are actually missing a species zoo tycoon 2 has the mountain gorilla which is a subspecies of eastern gorilla so not the same species as planet zoos if you would be so kind I would like the list to be updated to add this.
Also for everyone who will bring it up zoo tycoons gorilla was simply labelled lowland gorilla and since there are no scientific names we cannot know for sure which one it was but I suspect based on the zoopedia entry and time period it was just supposed represent all gorillas.

Well, we are at 180. Imagine one more full year of support. 2 scenery packs, 2 animals packs and 1 anniversary animal. 2*5 + 2*8 + 1 = 27. There you are, 180 + 27 = 207. I'm not saying the 27 missing species in Planet Zoo compared to Zoo Tycoon are for sure coming into game, of course not. I'm saying 207 species in the end doesn't seem that impossible.

The post is now complete! I am very happy with what we have by the end. Here is a summary of the species from either Zoo Tycoon game that did not make it to Planet Zoo, and the cases where a closely related species was chosen in their stead.
