CONCERN: Is the whole Management system too simplistic?

I am a bit worried management will be too simplistic and you be able to finish the game in no time at all! The tech tree in the demo looks very small so I am concern its not going to be as deep as other sim games like Cities skyline where there was so many things to build!

Even the tech on the dinosaur and the traits is very small like only 12 traits? They should be 50 or more!

My worry is that once you play both science, entertainment and security the game will be boring cause there is nothing really new!

I think the park should be like building a city where they are so many variations and players will build very different parks and no two parks will be the same! Just look at Cities skyline that was done by an indie developer!

Just look at how much can be done in this game! Transportation, happiness, zones, etc (this is all missing in the demo)

So the visual looks stunning but is it more focus on just casual players and then it just gets boring? 60 US dollars is a lot for the game and when citiies skyline came up it was half that price and still offer lots of things to research and build. But the alpha and only 2 months away look too simplistic and perhaps need to wait closer to release if it will change!

Even the maps are too small and i am worried that because they are following a moive it would mean building and resources management limitation. Be better if we could have the whole island to ourselves and what to build then just a limited space and limited buildings and varieties and resources.

I think i am very disappointed and i rather feel upset now then later on when the game is release.

Frontier has design planet coaster but its no where at the level of small indie sim games like cities skyline where there is so much variety and so much modding onto of this! So my dreams broken to know it won't be this complex and it just a very quick casual game. :(

But if I am wrong when the game is release then I will be happy again!

Price: 59US crazy!
Cities skyline is price at 29 US at the moment and even for its base there is so much variation in resources! So I am not willing to pay 60US for Jurrassic world evolution if there are so little buildings and resources to choose from. I will wait till a discount then I might buy it if it is worth it but I really might not if you only have so few buildings and resources in the game.

Will you still buy it if there were limited buildings and resources and not as many as the base game of City skyline?

There is an ultra realistic racing game sold for 60 US when it came out! It had hundreds of tracks and cars and unique career mode and in depth complex simulation. And for the price Frontier is asking for the game everything should be massive! Not limited and small cause well the real Park did not have alot of different buildings and things to do.

I really hope Frontier has not made such a fatal mistake in making their game small and only a couple hours play and its only visually stunning and nothing more. :(

I feel like its too early to tell on hows its gonna work. Again, it was a demo and even though we don't know how old of a version it is compared to the full base game. i THINK its safe to say that happiness (at least) will happen. I can definitely see why you're concerned and we shouldn't overhype the game, eeeeven though that has already happened.

Also i think someone said (can't remember where i heard it) that the largest island is a bit bigger than the biggest planet coaster map? Now i haven't played planet coaster so i've got no idea.

Yes, everything is too simplistic.

1 - Zero options for decorations or park customisation
2 - Only 2 attractions - Viewing platform and Gyrosphere
3 - Limited genomes
4 - Only a dozen visitor buildings
5 - Same number of utility buildings
6 - Can't build your own monorails
7 - Few terrain options
8 - Inability to add individual rocks, trees etc to enclosures. I wanted to fill my raptor pen with long grass to make it like TLW, can't do that.
9 - Limited island size. Why is only the center of the island accessible? I want to build the entire island... have mountain top walks, enclosures near the beach etc. Yet I'm stuck to the middle.
10 - Even the behaviour, though what we get looks nice, is limited. Why can't multiple dinosaurs fight? Why don't the dinosaurs sleep? Why when they hunt does the pray stand still?

They're basically given us a mobile game with good graphics. Everything about it is limited. It's telling that JPOG came out 15 years ago and yet the only thing Frontier have improved on is the graphics and giving us a story-mode.

The game looks like a 6/10... and that's been generous. The developers need to do an AMA or issue some sort of statement clarifying concerns. If they came out and said "there are cosmetics in the game, we've added more buildings and attractions etc" then that would be fair enough.

To me it seems pretty clear they've dumbed everything down, made it look flashy in order to appeal to the casual Call of Duty gamer with short attention spans.

It's a real disappointment. Beyond the graphics, there's very little impressive about what we've seen.

To be honest, If they want to get more money they have to decrease management level. If not, they will get money only from some simulation/management fan plus some of Jurassic Park/Dinosaur fan. Middle ground is the best way to get most customer.

And why you think this game is too simple? What confirm information you really have about feature in this game. You can't judge the game just from first 45 minute of game play from ONE ISLAND. Feature, building etc, can be hide/lock in the game that they show journalist.

The only thing that I concern right now is AI.

From what I understand more stuff can be unlocked later on in a tech tree, exactly what can be unlocked I have no idea. I guess more technology for the park.

Things did look a little to simplistic. But that's also an issue JPOG suffered from and it was caused by consoles. That's just the reality we are dealing with. PC gaming hasn't over taken consoles so we end up with dumped down ports. Even though PC gaming is still going strong.

But it was also a demo. So maybe we will see another more fleshed out version later on.

I know this is not Planet Coaster, but the reason why that game or Cities Skylines have such massive followings are because they are so customisable and you can spend DAYS just tinkering with one street or one small area in the park. I would love being able to spend days just around with the enclosure of one dinosuar, but if all I can do is build a fence, make some hills, a water hole and brush the same trees again and again + make the same viewing station... its not gonna last long. I have seen people spend days just building the main streets in their Planet Coaster parks, and it just does not seem like there is that option here, which is fine, but then there needs to be more than 10 different buildings to build. And if there is not more than 10 buildings to build (for the front face of the park, I know there is all the maintenance buildings etc, but those I would like to have AWAY from the park itself, since its not something the general park audience should see or have access to), and they want the dinosaurs to be the main focus, there should be unlimited options for the enclosure stuff. Like 40-50 ornaments, and waaaay better terrain tools.

From what I have seen so far, im pretty underwhelmed. But since its still early demo, I´ll reserve further critisism for when the game comes out and I can see what actually is in it.

I do hope the developers will see this and not limit function or else you can finish it so easily!

Anyone willing to participate in a partition so we can all sign our names and just let the developer know? I was listening to the game play video and the developer has said most of what we seen is finished and just optimization. Another review with the CEO, forgot his name, that the demo showed almost everything apart from the progression and disasters. So it looks like they might not be any more buildings added of larger tech tree.

I also read that they are making it limited to flow in line with the Jurrassic world Lore and perhaps DLC will expand this more so for now its limited!

Though it would be good if you could do more things with the AI and they are smart and learn and very complex needs to keep you busy when everything else gets boring. I was watching that you be able to include how many staff in your building so that is a good thing.

But perhaps wait close to release and see if anything changes but as said they did say that it just optimization now and nothing deep to be added! :(

You can watch it here if you have not listen to this!

You my friend are going to be disappointed. Remember that they had less than a year and a half from development to release. They also have restrictions from universal for what they can and can not do. Cities skyline was originally a pc only game and a lot more time to work on it. so they had a lot more time to implement features.

I've got the same concerns as you. I was hyped at first but the more info i read, and vids i saw, it seems like it's not going to be a complex game at all. I'm dissapointed.
And 60 euro's/dollars is a lot for a beautiful game only.

Thank you and please keep it updated and ask mod to pin it! :)

I still will like the game but its what can be done later on when they are allowed to do more in the game!

Thank you please keep mentioning it hoping the dev will read this! I still like the game but i will watch the lets play series to see if it is worth paying $60 for it! I do love the dinosaurs and to care for it and this game is more attractive then Prehistoric kingdom which is still very early on. But just wait till it comes out to see how complex this games goes and is it worth the amount. Or i will buy it and then sell it if it is very casual and easy and nothing too challenging at all.

Sadly this is the reason why the game is going to be simplistic, the same reason why JPOG was. It was designed for consoles. The reason why Planet Coaster and City Skylines has the customization and attention to detail in it is because it can, it’s not limited in controls by a gamepad. Factor in there time crunch to release with the Fallen Kingdom movie, we may very well be left with a very shallow game.

You all do realize that this was a demo, on a dev build ?

It's obvious most of the stuff is not activated in that build, cause it had the only purpose to allow people to see what the game will be about in less than an hour.

Not all dinosaurs were there, not all building, not all genes, not all the unlockable stuff, not the other islands, and so on...

So, I get you have concerns, but please keep all that in mind : it was just a demo.

It's like judging Elite Dangerous from the tutorials only, or Planet Coaster with 95% of the management and blueprints not there.

Finally, JWE is all about management, so maybe wait for the final version before making a decision/judgment ?

I really hope I am wrong but from what it sounds like, what was in the demo is all we are going to get. Look at Best in Slots gameplay video without commentary. Fast forward to 15:00. Sounds like the only thing left is “polish”.

There is no way at all that so close to release the project isn't feature locked. They are polishing it and making sure reviewers get as bugfree a product as possible.

I think some features would be locked (More than 30 dinosaurs for example) but by the looks of things, by and large, it is a pretty bare game with feature/attractions missing that should be on.

I guess the real question we need to be asking is just how old is this Development Build from the demo? If it’s 6 months old and was built as a stable version to only show off the game, then there is certainly a ton of features that are missing. But, if this demo is a representation of there most recent build, what we see is what we are getting.

BestinSlot said it was recent.
