Conclusion: Mining is a FAIL

Seismic charge ammo adds a bit of extra gameplay for me. I have 3 launchers on my T-10, at my current skill level I'll deplete a single launcher in order to fill up a 400 tonne capacity freighter.

So what's your average? I've blown them with as little as 3. I think I usually crack them with 4 unless I screw up... Usually no more than 5 on a metallic roid.

And the T10 is maneuverable enough?
For the most part, on faster spinning roads you have to close the cargo sometimes to line up a shot. It's biggest problem is with the location of the hard points.

I used to love mining in it, but for deep core mixed with mining lasers it does ok, but I prefer the Kraits.

Me, I love mining, but I get tired of trying to fill up large ships. My T-10 is great for laser-mining RES sites. It fills up quickly, and I get to kill stuff along the way.

For everything else though, I go for conservative cargo space, speed, and maneuverability.

The Krait Mk II turns out to be perfect for the job.

I will say that in VR, there is nothing like mining in a T-10. That big, open view canopy is marvelous.

Oddly enough this configuration just about fits into the Crusader with a choice of either a shield or an SLF hangar. It's going to be very humorous if this Alliance ship turns out to be a better miner than the original job it was designed for :)
I mean, have you met the Type 10? ;)

Made 16M CR tonight while having fun. What I put in (time, skill), I got out (rewards, fun).

If this is 'failure', then I look forward to many more failures from the Wizards at Cambridge.

Pretty much conclusion... I had to try it combined, but it takes forever it seems. I did come back with a crap load of painite!

I enjoy deep core more, I love the hunt and cracking roids, too much fun.

OP, you forgot the Clipper. That can be used instead of a type 7 too.

You wanna know the funniest part. In RES zones, when you run into a miner, they are almost always in a T series ship, or a small pad ship like a cobra. Fdev apparently forgot they did that, so now my immersion is broken.

I wonder how a Corvette will do as a mining ship - it's got the space, modules, hardpoints and power... I can see that working quite well....

I might give it a go - once I return from my accidental 200 jump trip into the unknown...

(I really want misjumps in the game... my god the salt... imagine the salt!)

OP is entitled to his opinion and move onto something else or another game.

However, I think FD did a great job updating the mining. My Krait is perfect for mining.

Actually, 3.3 has been fantastic all around.

I must be doing something wrong as I've been making lots of credits and have had great fun mining.
Yeah, not even I can complain, and I've had some of the worst mining runs ever before the new system.

Though I wouldn't mind being able to use the mining laser for surface deposits too, so my Python could keep it's 2 weapons and still gather "everything" xD

But then again, a cracked open egg is more interesting and worthwhile than gnawing on countless roids just for the heck of it.

Yesterday I made 14.5 mil with Grandidierite. And I was just looking for stuff for the CG, now I'm like "screw the CG".

I'm really enjoying the new mining mechanics and it feels like it's a bit of a challenge while at the same time being worthwhile which has to be good. I just hope they don't "adjust" the values too much.

Finding and cracking cores has a good blend of learned systems and a bit of experience/intuition based gameplay.

Not everyone will like it but compared to the previous mining mechanic, it's great. I can now actually see myself keeping a dedicated mining vessel for when I fancy the solitude of roid cracking.

My main moan... FSS and mining update should have been part of season 1 instead of CQC, powerplay and all the other guff they brought in back then....still better late than never I guess.
