Confirmed. Just 26 dinosaurs (Plus 5 deluxe) in game.

Has this definitively been confirmed? If so they need to change this badly before release. I'm in favor of day/night cycles, but if that's not happening they should at least leave it at day only.
Double confirmed. You can see it on the games website. The starter island is always sunny and the island after that will always be in a sundown look, like dusk, Then one is always night.
Yes it's a terrible choice.

In another sponsored youtube video, the one from yogsast/turpster, the developer states "over 30".
Its definitely a bit sad to see all the gameplay video's flood out, all of the same content and only 3 or so of the people they invited are actually into jurassic park.. but the one from turpster turned out better.. he didn't care either, but actually made a real effort to play the game, he was trying to break it and went off the script based on what he wanted to do.. had more insights on the game than any of the others i've seen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcj2Mjd1MSw

All of this leads us to 37 dinos. Considering that german magazine said 40 I'm led to believe the actual number is 40 - 45.
I think they want to reach more than just Jurassic Park/word fans.
That's an interesting point actually. If they wanted to, they shouldn't have gone with Jurassic Park branding.. frontier just have enough rep and the jpog familiars rabid enough they could have had a far go calling it dinothunder 16 or something.
I think the inverse is going to be more of an issue.. if the movie tanks its going to unjustly damage sales of jwe (which is a jpog sequel, not a movie spinoff like most people will be thinking). Wouldn't be surprised actually.. the trailer is showing the main plotline being something only a social justice warrior could understand and every second after that opening conversation looks like running from explosions... Wouldn't be surprised.
Obviously they want the sales from the loyal Jurassic Park/world fans so that is why the used the branding. But they could reach other people with the fact that this is a management game. It's basically a Dinosaur zoo. Jurassic Park branding or not a lot of people would find that interesting.
I don't see how the movie tanking would damage the game. I am not a big fan of Jurassic World and I am not really interested in Fallen Kingdom. However I am really excited about this game.
40-45 dinosaurs are more than enough for the base game!
And in this list do not count the dinosaurs of the Deluxe Edition, so in reality there are 21 confirmed dinosaurs. That 21 species have been named does not mean that they only put that amount in the game, it's to keep the Hype!
