You're not wrong about that. I suspect that no one on the team thought that through...or caught the disparity in pay over time.the problem now is that there is additional content being added to Odyssey and now it's affecting CG module rewards

What you are missed, is that new things is coming to EDO and the consoles are still on the same Level for a long time. The last thing what we get was the carrier and some minor fixes which didn’t have a huge impact for us.I guess the question I have is "What, if anything, is there to update?" FDev have said many, many times that their current focus is on patching up Odyssey on PC and when they have done that, they will shift their focus to consoles. As a console CMDR, you have to understand that every fix and patch on the PC version is a step towards console release, right? I do understand your frustration, though. As a three year XBox CMDR myself, I can't imagine still not having Odyssey...but...the incessant questioning and dooming from the console crowd is getting a bit grating. We've all been told, "Fix PC, then consoles." Until "Fix PC" has happened, there's no news on "then consoles." If "Fix PC" has happened and then there is still no news on "then consoles," then maybe, sure, have a go....but we're not there yet.
They never specified what yearThat which is there is now gone.
I guess we will have to agree to disagree. "Lack of new updates" does not equal "consoles will be canceled."But for now at the moment it’s seems to be that there are a huge possibility that EDO for consoles will be cancelled. I mean they couldn’t confirm that the consoles are still planned.
I hope this is the trueI guess we will have to agree to disagree. "Lack of new updates" does not equal "consoles will be canceled."
Let be there a little bit of tiny hope, but for now will keep a realistic expectation, the best thing is to expect nothing. Because when their is a statement or an announcement for us then, the surprise hits harder.I do not believe it will be cancelled.. the likliest worst outcome is they cannot find a way for it to meet the performance perameters needed and it gets relegated to the newer consoles only but i don't think for a second they want to cancel it. David Braben loves Elite.. he's never stopped making it, the cobra engine is a flippin COBRA for goodness sake! Look at the icon used in it's design.. the head of the cobra is a COBRA!
But yeah, the intention has always been to bring it to console and I believe it still remains. It just can't even begin to be thought of being brought to us while it struggles on top end machines still. They have found significant hurdles that even 6 months of crunch work hasn't been able to fix so yeah.. they're in trouble and waaaay behind schedule but i do believe it will come to us.
I kinda hope it doesn't in it's current form though coz the new lighting looks crappy and all my beautiful skins aren't gonna look the same so here's hoping they sort if out.. also I still hate a lot of the new UI and it's just not nice to use in places.
I want to be optimistic but......Hey, if it's any sign of life that the console people aren't being completely left out in the cold; the multi-limpet controller in Update 9, which is "new Odyssey content", is also coming to Horizons, which means it will be on consoles. In the (not confirmed in any way) event that the new SRV also happens to make it into Horizons in update 9? Then consoles would get that as well.
Which means that the "new Odyssey content" is actually just new content, where possible, and consoles are not being excluded from it. Same as how consoles were not excluded from the increases in module storage when that updated.
If consoles get the new SRV, that's a really clear and obvious sign (beyond also getting the multi-limpet controller), that "we have no news" actually does mean the plan is still "fix the stability issues with Odyssey, then set a new release window for consoles".
If it's on Horizons, it's on console, because console's version of the game is Horizons. Didn't the console version get the Horizons patches and the increases to module capacity? In the same way that PC Horizons did?I want to be optimistic but......they may have said Horizons on stream but a few peeps asked Horizons on console and they never clarified and thinking about it why did it have to be pried out of them why not mention when asked any news for console instead of the usual well new usual "No console news in this stream". If it does turn out that it's coming to Horizons on console why be so ambiguous, recently I'm having trouble trusting what's being said on streams (Probably why I don't watch them much anymore) hence why I'm not so sure they're will be any substantial news on Friday. If however there is it will restore a little of my faith even though the communication remains a wee bit garbled

Yes indeed, but this isn’t the way to hold peoples faith up. Wow we get storage of modules rise up and wow we get the multilimpet controller which was announced a long time a go.If it's on Horizons, it's on console, because console's version of the game is Horizons. Didn't the console version get the Horizons patches and the increases to module capacity? In the same way that PC Horizons did?
My only concern Is that they will leave last gen behind and release it solely on the series S/X and PS5 as a new game. And leave the xbox one and PS4 version dead as the dodo.
And if that is the case, I would accept it, but I just would like Fdev to be brave enough to tell us. Maybe we'll know more on Friday. But if they are true to form, probably not. Fdev. The CMs. Prove. Me. Wrong.
This is a mid-size company, listed on the stock market, not some tiny start up. This is a development that they have been working on for a long time. I simply cannot believe that they do not know anything, and that there are no, even tentative plans for console, or any R&D results from test deployments to console. The lack of info simply suggests that there is only bad news looming that they don't want to share for fear of even more people walking away...Maybe they simply don't know yet so they have nothing to tell, nothing to prove you wrong about.
Or that there is no news yet - because they're still working on the PC version. Could be that. Could be just what they said the issue is.
