Console new FSS and new Keybinds topic

Anyone else having an issue with the "Are you sure?" dialog to replace a keybind?

I cannot select cancel, confirm, nor always confirm. I also cannot hit b to exit the dialog box. I have to restart the game... and lose all my unsaved keybinds!

I use the default control scheme, I only ever adjust a few things so I keep it simple (like turning off vibration and the "looking at panels" functions). Everything works fine this way. I only need a shortcut to the new night vision mode and I just can't find a button combination that's not yet in use.

No you don’t. If you look far right lower corner there are two options to what you asked for. One of them is the two windows(select) and the other is start. Take a look. It is right there in front of you.
ofc I forgot which button does what. But it tells you in the right side of the screen. Read everything and you shall find it.:)

tried that as well. no luck.

So I’m using Hotas and pretty much all my keybindings are custom. So what I did was change to default Hotas setup. Have a quick glance at the FSS settings. Then go back to my custom Hotas and copy the bindings there. Sorry I’m too lazy to reset my entire setup. But this is how I did it. And it works.

Need clarification: there appears to be two slots for control bindings for a HOTAS One, default and custom.

1. Default is locked; no modifications possible as any changes are saved as a Custom setup (overwriting any existing custom setting).
2. Custom slot allows any binding changes to be saved to itself.

Therefore, one should be able to play the original default setup, modify it to taste (auto-saves to Custom slot) and if not happy switch back to default.

If you have already modified the default you can play your Custom HOTAS, rethink your playstyle with new bindings and if not happy return to Default to get a better idea; then return to Custom and modify specific settings until satisfied with all your bindings.

I have minimal modifications to my Custom slot, and have never tried switching between Custom and Default options. With 3.3 I just added new binding where the "!" indicated changes were required bindings to using the new modules. Have not validated the changes are good, nor did I look to see what the default settings looked like (will next time I'm in ED). 3.3 looks like some serious fun coming our way once the break-in bugs get stomped/removed. See you in open, fly safe and be dangerous, o7

Dunno what the fuss is about. Set to default context. Set your personal binds. Done. No need to bind anything new

I have custom binds for...pretty much everything. My camera controls alone...lol

B + RB to enter free cam, custom binds for swapping viewpoints, zoom, lock on, etc everything.

Inputting my custom controls took over 30 minutes T.T

Use the trigger. Primary select is A, but it doesn't work on that dialogue. You have to use the secondary (RT).
If you remove the latter from your control options you'll be able to select with A again.

Just in case someone misunderstands

1. Classic Default - old but if changed it becomes custom
2. Default - new but if changed becomes custom
3. Custom - only one custom keybind can exist regardless

I'm having issues using trying to use the new scanner features. I have a custom layout. Not sure if this is a bug or not but sometimes when I activate the analysis mode the flight controls for my ship turn off. I thought I might have to rebind them but sometimes if I log out and back in the flight controls return in that mode.

Does anyone know if we can use a keyboard with the hotas now xbox one x allows the use of a mouse and keyboard. If so that would be sooo much easier.

Same here. I have custom keybinds and all the new FSS and DSS features are not accessible.

I've switched to default controls and take some screenshots. Will put them in my custom setup (and adding a quick keybind for night vision too because it's a relevant feature for combat).

I did the same thing I basically took the default controls for the FSS and manually entered them into my customer controller layout. Everything is the same except my enter FSS mode is mapped to to B+RB and open discovery to B+LB.

I think its a bug. I tried switching it to default and its doing the same thing sometimes.

edit: its a confirmed bug

The increased new scanner operations are complete gibberish. Can’t understand any of the bindings or the process. In one move this game - which I’ve played for two years - is unplayable. I don’t want to spend hours setting up button bindings. The whole control binding set up is ludicrously difficult. I’ve loved this game and I’ve always sneered at people criticising it, but me and Elite are finished. And it’s a real shame.

so, I have your regular Xbox controller. Is there a default pre-mapped setting for the added keys? Because, I'm trying to custom key-bind all of them, but I'm feeling like Helen Keller trying to put a 1,000 piece puzzle together.

I actually understand the mechanics of it after watching a couple of youtube videos and the tutorial video and overall it seems like a benefit for exploring since you can basic scan all the planets without flying to them (only have to fly to them to do surface probing) and definitely is a benefit for finding USS faster. The USS now are persistent so you can scan the whole system for them and know what they are rather than just flying around in shipping lanes hoping for one to pop up then flying to it to see what it is.

The easiest thing to do for me was load the default layout, take a screenshot of the default keybindings for the FSS,the DSS and set a keybind for HUD switch mode. Then copy these same bindings into my existing custom layout. You dont have to redo your entire bindings at least if you are using a controller.

The FSS scanning seems easy enough. You basically stay in supercruise, slow down, enter FSS mode and hold A to do the 'honk'. This will show the horizontal plane of the system and light up signal sources. You then move the cursor around to the spots that light up with the left stick, then move the right stick to tune the scanner on the horizontal bottom of the screen. The horizontal bar tells you what type of body it is and will have different chevron patterns. you match those patterns up with the pattern that shows up in the circular center recticle with the left stick. The pattern on the circular recticle will point toward the source. When you get close a dotted circle pops up. When you hit it right the dotted circle turns solid then you RT to zoom in. Sometimes you have to zoom in multiple times if some bodies are close to each other. Then LT to zoom out.

Signal sources are on the left of the horizontal bar bigger bodies are to the right.

What would really be nice is if they actually had two sets of firegroup binds. One for Analysis and one for Combat that only show up when you are in those modes. Kinda sucks your weapons still show up in the firegroups when you are in the other mode.

The other thing that kinda sucks is seems like it would be easy to get ganked with the scanner window open, but I guess if you are far out in the black you mostly dont have to worry about it.

My biggest issue now is it seems bugged. If I have analysis mode on and jump to a new system my flight controls turn off when I exist the jump sometimes. But exiting and reloading fixes it.
