I use the same email for both my temp pc account and my xbox account (different tags though) is that going to be a problem?
Yes if you intend it to be used as a second PC account with the same email during the c;opy..
No if you intend for the console account to be cloned to that exsisting PC account...
1 email address can have A PC PSN and Xbox linked two it as they are all seperate data bases to store 3 accounts..
you will not be able to have two PC account on that email...

The PC account is not temp its still there and willl be there on the email, the "SAVE" of the PC account needs to be zeroed to be used... no matter what the email

Well, i've added a new email alias for my future Frontier account that will hold the console copy profile.

And since i got no answer to earlier carrier transfer enquiries, i reconsidered my decision to scrap the XB carrier before the copy.

The last word being that carriers and their cargo are not copied over, so:
  • i made sure i transferred whatever cargo (that i wanted to copy over) from the carrier holds to a Cutter
  • i also withdraw most of the credits from carrier bank to the commander account. As in: I left over in the carrier bank only 54 millions - this should be enough for 2 weeks of upkeep, while my XB commander is sitting on 42.4bn credits.

My XB account is ready for transfer!

o7 commanders, most of my ships and modules are on my Xbox carrier. I know the carrier and it’s cargo won’t be included in the pc save. If I leave my ships and modules on the carrier will they 1. Be copied and 2. Still be on the Xbox carrier when I log in on PC? Just checking I don’t need to move them off the carrier. Thanks in advance.

Yep Nothing is touched on the XBox account Every thing that is there the day before copying will be there the day after yep Zero changes are made to the Xbox account ...
FC are cross platform they allready show on PC servers, the FC will still be exactly the same on PC as it was on console...
To have the cloned account content show on the Fleet carrier and not the nearest station, you need to install out fitting and ship yard to the FC, this will enable all users to store modules and ships on that FC.. other wise all modules and ships will move to the nearest station on the cloned account and that will then cost money to move to were you want them with transfers costs...

Thank you for your reply. I thought/hoped this would be the case.

I hope when the transfer is being activated that they don't ask my game ID # as from last night my ps4 died. I'm not even interested in fixing it (again). I had fun with my PS4. I bought it at a pawn shop together with a HOTAS One for $70 as I wasn't sure if I would like Elite Dangerous. I liked it a lot and my old box was running daily for hours. So now that my ps4 has passed away and my pc is sitting and waiting to pick up where I was in the ps4 Galaxy, I must say, thank you Frontier, I like Elite Dangerous a lot.

There is more than one way to get the ID number, but Fdev will not realy want it announced as their accountant will want to limit the Free version to active plsyers...
Not just those who put the BD in to get a free PC version when they never ever played the console version untill the free PC offer was made public..

This is a nice touch.

Does anyone know when will the window for this kind and thoughtful offer close?
FDev hasn't established the timeframe yet, our last update states that the process will become available on the 12th (tentatively, depending on how testing went last week). There has only been mention that this is a limited time, and one time only process. No end date has been established AFAIK.

Will the transfer feature include an oculus product key? Or will platform selection (PC and VR) be an option once this goes live? I believe the additional product key was originally a benefit of purchasing the game before a certain date. It's the only way I play ED now so I definitely don't wanna miss out and I'd prefer not to play through SteamVR if I can avoid it.

What is the lates news on the test? Is the transfer still on for tomorrow? In the Discovery Scanner from the 5th, Fdev promised to be back before the week commencing September 12th with even more specifics.

We don't know. A large group of the player base has been waiting for a bit now 🤣🤦‍♂️and nothing new has been posted on their forums . Which isn't great and nothing on the test again ??? So just a vague date which hasn't been confirmed on Monday and again nothing on the their own forums ? Or even a quick this is what will happen when it starts .

This Console transfer process seems really complicated and confusing. The FAQ is written in a very confusing manner.

Can someone please explain in easy and simple words what i need to do when i want to :

Transfer my Console Commander to an entirely separate PC Account that works independent from my existing PC commander with its own separate EDSM, INARA .. whaetever profile.

Do i need to buy a 2nd copy fof ED for this ?
Do i need to register the new account with frontier with a 2nd separate Email ( independent usage on EDSM INARA and so on )

No/Yes. FAQ is very clear 🤷‍♀️

It's been clearly stated that all transfering players will get a FREE Horizons account when transfering, you just need to make sure the email address is different from any PC account you already have, if you have one. If you don't have one it doesn't matter.

if it was clear i would not have asked in first place.. Thank you

Your Horizons account will be accessible from Frontier's standalone launcher. If you would prefer to play on Steam, you can visit this page, to see how you can activate Elite Dangerous on Steam after receiving your free Horizons account.  If you would prefer to play on the Epic store, you will need to purchase the game there first and use that account for the transfer process.

See that word "free"?

Thank you,
Its hard to find all the useful and needed informations when they are scattered over multiple pinned post, various sticked threads in the forum and on top linked to some more FAQ on Frontiers website.

I'm in the UK, don't mind shipping from abroad but would prefer something a little more local mainly for a time saving thing. But thank you for the advice, much appreciated
Give Novatech a go. There is even a section where you select a game you play and they show you builds. Good customer service as well , plus interest free credit on some models.
