Console Update

So you kept us all waiting and hoping for 9 months to just pretty much say "cya later consoles"? You played on our hope and arx just to drop this like nothing?

Let me just stop myself now. It was a good 5 years on this game but I guess the road comes to an end now.

o7 Commanders and thanks FDev for leading us on for the past 9 months without any interaction or explanation.
I have over 23k ARX still to spend, I'd really like to have this refunded back so I can spend it towards another game but I hold no hope I'll get that back.

and what they should offer, because they will not give you a refund, is to transfer your account to PC and give you something to activate the game through steam on PC so you dont have to pay for it again.
If it were to happen, and I hope it does, it would be through Frontier's own webstore I imagine. This could then be linked to Steam.

To be honest after update 3 or 4 on low end PCs like mine it was clear all the low hanging stuff was exhausted and the problems were much deeper and fundamental.
Sure, we all knew that the console version was unlikely given the problems, but it's the narrative that FDev decided a long time ago to cancel the console version and have been intentionally lying to us with the purpose to trick us is what I have a problem with.

I get it, people are angry and rightfully so. But people need to be realistic and stop acting like something is proven when it isn't.

Where's your proof that they knew this wasn't going to work on consoles? Not speculation, but hard irrefutable proof?

10 years of being lied to & a string of broken promises from Frontier, and the state of Odyssey both at release & now. The fact that they seriously thought a sub-standard FPS was what their galaxy simulation game needed. The absolute silence surrounding console news until this point.

That's all the proof you need.

My view was always that the low end PC spec people (like me for a while) were an indicator for console dev too, since PS4/ XB were just as limited.

I recon xbox series x ps5 could technically run Elite Dangerous. But is ED a game for the console masses.
There was a cmdr who had ED on the mac. When it was cancelled they thought no worries I will get a console...
Ironically DB like his consoles.
So ED not coming soon to consoles.
Space game are quite niche.

I manage about 20FPS in ground conflict zones with an i7-11700k, 32GB of RAM, and a 3080. Performance issues are STILL severe.

Hell, stations provide for 40-60FPS on the same setup.
I understand but as stated 'people' is much more general than 'some people', I'm running 2060 getting 45-144fps depending on specific situations, and the situations that yield ~45fps are settlements, Horizons type stuff is 90-144fps.

While this news is hard for console players I’m sure, I’m glad it was finally done. I’m looking forward to what comes next. I just hope the Frontier code monkeys work out a way to port over console to PC. As for giving it to them for free…. F that. Last year in October I figured this was going to be the case and paid for horizons and the odyssey “upgrade”. They going to give me my money back because I’m a port over? Hell no.
