Looks like i'm retiring Elite from my series X so... if i was looking to maybe at some point buy a PC to run this (depending on the state of it in the next few months) what are we talking requirements wise and cost? Refurbished machine maybe? Genuine question sorry i am a 50 yr old complete PC luddite! haha. cheers all! o7

Yamiks is a toxic clown who milked this game for hatesubs for at least a year before he finally got binned off from here and from any official recognition when FDev had had enough of him. His role in any downfall would be minimal because to suggest otherwise would be affording him a level of importance which he just doesn't have but he certainly contributed to the peanut gallery. He was the Richard Hammond of streamers though, an irritating little sycophant scampering around the big boy's table.

Oh that's unfair, at least Richard Hammond's content is sometimes entertaining.

I honestly don't think they did lol.. If you look at the design choices of the UI it's not easy to fathom what they were designing it for but it certainly wasn't to accomodate a controller.

Unless they fabricated what they've been complaining about ...they're not "doing their part" in this. Unless they lied and made up false information / content ...the current state of elite dangerous is 100% fdev's doing.

In the world of cause and effect, the response from the players did not cause the game to get bugs, did not cause the developers to take too long to fix them, did not cause the developer to stop communicating or stop being as involved with the community, did not cause the developer to ignore feedback (when they bothered to look for feedback), they did not direct fdev to shift the game in a way that led to a 50% reduction in performance ...and they certainly didn't cause fdev to slow new content to a crawl and waste resources implementing game mechanics nobody wanted (exo-biology scanner minigame).

So what part are they doing in producing that? The part where these issues are more widely known and the discontent in the playerbase is more well known? Would we magically be in a better place if such visible airing of dirty laundry wasn't done? Or would we be in the same place, just with less posts from Braben when there's especially bad news to deliver?

None of what you say is unique to FDev, it's a justified criticism of the gaming industry overall but to single out FDev whilst ignoring greater issues elsewhere, and not ever give FDev credit for the good things they have done, makes your points moot in regards to your argument. Their content reminds me of negative political campaign ads.

I'm not sure what you want then, if you have an account on PC & PS4, then moving PS4 account to PC would result in two PC accounts. If you mean you want only one account linked to Steam, then I think that can be switched if that's the situation.

I understand that porting individual console accounts might be too labor intensive for Fdev. Nevertheless, it would be a meaningful gesture if Frontier gifted all current console players a PC account. And not just any PC account, but one with enough credits to purchase and maintain a Fleet Carrier for x amount of time, enough credits to buy many many ships, liberal arx, and a completely filled hold of ALL engineering materials. I understand that ranks might be lost as well as all exploring finds, but any tools to make it easier to regain would be at the very least, something.

Bro there is NO "might be hard" they will g do it because the just g backstabbed us loyal players.

Please don't engage in this kind of rhetoric. There's no lawsuit that can be filed to force a company to release a game unless it has already been pre-ordered and even then the only result would be a refund. Arx purchases are for the game you currently play, which for console owners is Horizons so that's no dice either. All it adds up to is increasing the drama for no good reason.

Backstabbing loyal players increases the drama too.

FD brought it on themselves. Let them suffer every consequence. They deserve it and more.

Elite Dangerous is a game close to my heart.

It’s no secret that Odyssey’s launch was less than ideal, including the need to split the PC/console player base to focus on a PC-only launch. Since Odyssey’s release in May 2021, we have worked tirelessly to improve the Odyssey experience on PC, and whilst we have made great progress there is still more to be done. We have been supporting the pre-Odyssey and post-Odyssey codebases since.

Over the last several months, we have been wrestling with the best way to move forward, and it is with a heavy heart we have decided to cancel all console development. We need to be able to move forward with the story of the game, and in order for us to do this we need to focus on a single codebase. Elite Dangerous will continue on console as it is now together with critical updates, but we will focus on new content updates on PC on the post-Odyssey codebase.

We appreciate this news is not what our console community were hoping for. This was not an easy decision to make, but it was made with the long-term future of Elite Dangerous in mind.

I have so far never even once Seen a Game Survive after it Abandoned a Major Part of its Playerbase.

Been around longer than you and even though I appreciate how carefully you Chose Your Words, Your View Doesn't Reflect the Greater Reality. There are many games that have done just that. Major isn't the same as majority, and while the console segment of the userbase is certainly not trivial it evidently isn't enough to warrant continued development. That sucks, but Xbox One & PS4 are last generation console tech, hardware moves on and there's also the fact that Elite as a franchise may be on one of your father's C64 discs, so it's roots are firm.

How exactly was that time now wasted? You can't go back and un-enjoy your spent leisure time.

Fdev have broken no contracts with users here..

I do feel sympathy for you console guys....but your making it real hard with the over the top histrionics. Odyssey ain't super great btw, and Fdev need to put in a lot of work to make it better, that could take ages...or even not happen at all? (one step forward two steps back etc).

I understand your frustration, I've been there, but it still doesn't change or negate my point, and FDev haven't 'backstabbed' anyone just as Rockstar hasn't by never releasing a new GTA on that generation of console either as was no doubt expected, it looks like they're content to release an updated GTA V on PS5/SeriesX and will very likely sunset it on the previous generation before releasing GTA VI on the new current generation only. Getting angry and inciting forum drama isn't going to change anything.

I was being sarcastic (in favour of NMS if you look at previous posts). It is being suggested that "console versions bring it down". Yet NMS can run on new consoles, whilst still running on old hardware - that was my point.
NMS does have multiplayer, and you can meet up with multiple players (PS4 players with PS4VR players and PC players!) and visit other peoples bases they have made.

So why can't ED do that?
