Console Update

First played on my Mac. Mac got left behind but I was excited when it came to consoles. Bought a PS4, waited patiently for Horizons and then new stuff which obviously isn’t coming.

So my question is: now console versions are being shelved is the code base / are emulators close enough to get back to getting Elite on Mac? I don’t own a PC and don’t intend to get one just to play Elite, although I’m about to buy the quite speedy new Mac Studio.

My laptop is not "top of the line PC hardware that few can afford", it's a mid-spec RTX2060 and I say it runs Odyssey well. But let's not let facts interfere with the narrative. It's funny ObiW posted almost verbatim the same thing in another thread...

My desktop is an utter potato with a 1080ti throttled by an old gen I7 which I have not got round to upgrading and Odyssey is perfectly acceptable for me in VR. I should really get round to upgrading it at some point - I just resent doing so when I have to use it for work 3-5 days a week.

Ooh, Max or Ultra? Can't say I'm not jealous (but nowhere rich enough).

There are Mac gaming sites that will no doubt be testing Studio when it arrives.

Well, I'm still playing ED Horizons, yes it will stop one day, but all games end one day. As long my PMF is in the game I will keep flying and I am really happy that the game will not (for now) be discarded by frontier. That I will never see Odyssey, well or I buy a pc and play Odyssey or I don't, it's that easy. I'm not angry at all. We all need to cool down a bit. Or else you turn out to get angry about almost everything. look, my son bought a big ass tv last week, an awesome piece of tech. While me, daddy, is having a regular one. I'm happy for my son, and I'm happy for the pc gamers who finally can see if frontier can deliver. On the fact that I'm still playing Elite, well, I like the game, I like the PVE interactions, I like space trucking, I like almost everything. Odyssey was not really something for me tbh, I suck at FPS games. To all the gamers, to all the Mods, to Frontier, thank you for allowing me to still fly around in Horizons and I wish you all the best. One day I will have saved enough money to buy myself a real good pc and I will, if transferring accounts is not possible, start all over again. Because I love the game. Yes, Frontier could have said it a little bit sooner but damn if they did, damn if they don't. I would encourage PS4 players and xbox players not to give up right away. And if you would end all interactions, I wish you all the best.

I'm gutted at these, I just upgraded my 2013 Mac Pro to a cheese grater one last year, and wish I'd held on another 12 months. The Ultra absolutely obliterates my Pro in terms of performance, and its half the price.

You realize you're not getting any content improvements either as a PC player, correct? I mean the console annoucement was bad enough but late last night I was RE-reading the announcement on the site for like the 8th time, and something I missed is they are stopping any and all development of PC Horizons only as well. So consoles got axed AND PC horizons got axed. So if you dont plan on, or have a computer capable of playing Odyssey, it's done. the state of the game as it exists right now for you on Horizons is it.

I had not thought of that…. 😒. What’s more, when Elite signed that agreement, I’m sure a clause was put in place to penalize them if they break that agreement.

It’s quite simple: I have some Ranks, Ships, Modules and Credits on my PlayStation CMDR.

I would like to move them onto to my PC CMDR but without losing the stuff my PC CMDR already has.

Yes Sir, I do realize that, and when it's done and my financial situation is not of the level to buy a good pc, I will move on and do something else. But I do hope you can imagine that after a gaming time of +158 weeks I can't walk away on my own, I will just wait and still enjoy what I got until it's gone for good.
