Console Update

Seeing as the graphical improvements for Horizons have been removed and unlikely to be fixed, will I be due a refund for paying for a broken product?

This is the UK and there are trading standards.

Although they are selling the game even now on consoles with this on the description:
"A Living Game
Elite Dangerous grows and expands with new features and content. Major updates react to the way players want to play and create new gameplay opportunities for the hundreds of thousands of players cooperating, competing and exploring together in the connected galaxy. "

Although it's only £5 now!

he says Frontier had a loss, it's not true, they had a positive operating profit but an accounting loss

Did they?

Then go ahead and talk in cloudy terms. But don't complain when crystal clear answers blow up in your face.
And don't accuse me of belittling you, and in the next line you call me "poor you". That doesn't quite fit together.
I'll talk how I like and not be guided by you.
Perhaps you might try to take in what people are saying rather then criticise the way they say it. You are not my teacher. There's nothing I wish to learn from you. Unless it's ED related.

Do us console mob a favour and revert the game to Horizons 2.1.

Thats when the NPCs where at their peak to fight against. If I can get pure combat like that, I'll happily keep switching on.

Cheers.

Yeah they really need to tell MS and Sony to remove it from the game store, to continue to sell it at this point is tantamount to fraud.

for the next 6 months to a year? Because now that it's been announced the console playerbase will continue to shrink until it crosses some threshold or enough time elapses where they can legally shutdown the console servers, because you know they will, why continue to run servers for a platform you've abandoned? my hope is that it lasts long enough to get our saves off before they pull the plug.

Well, thats not quiet true. Theyve said to delay console Development in order to fix the pc version first. And to be honest, it was quiet clear after several perfomance patches which doesnt have the expected outcome that it wont come to consoles.
There are two new consoles out ,why not try to make it work on those as well as p.c. ?They just wrote off console entirely,it sucks for last gen, but no one knows what the new ones are cabable of yet. See the previous examples I mentioned. The new consoles are barely a year old. https://getonstream.com/what-is-the-xbox-series-x-equivalent-graphics-card/

Greetings Commanders,

Elite Dangerous is a game close to my heart.

It’s no secret that Odyssey’s launch was less than ideal, including the need to split the PC/console player base to focus on a PC-only launch. Since Odyssey’s release in May 2021, we have worked tirelessly to improve the Odyssey experience on PC, and whilst we have made great progress there is still more to be done. We have been supporting the pre-Odyssey and post-Odyssey codebases since.

Over the last several months, we have been wrestling with the best way to move forward, and it is with a heavy heart we have decided to cancel all console development. We need to be able to move forward with the story of the game, and in order for us to do this we need to focus on a single codebase. Elite Dangerous will continue on console as it is now together with critical updates, but we will focus on new content updates on PC on the post-Odyssey codebase.

We appreciate this news is not what our console community were hoping for. This was not an easy decision to make, but it was made with the long-term future of Elite Dangerous in mind.

And how much is it for bought back?
DLC, Arx, cosmetic items, ranks, power play earnings, cargo and other in-game progression cannot be transferred and must be re-earned or bought back.

In the terms we sign on joining the game (those we never read) there are some clauses about discontinuation of service, maybe someone could dive onto it and check how much time is specified about communication of "end of service" and the shutdown.

EDIT: Found this

The question could be: It will be Elite playable offline in consoles in some way after shutdown? Doubt it unless there is some local files/database to store all "server" data
