Construction requirements matrix

The requirements are totally ridiculous. Who would ever want to do that grind, especially since what they do all the work for ends up taken over by one of the rdiculous, oboslete, irrelevant factions that are at every place. And when you have something built, you can't even run it or somehow use it. Why have something built that's totally use- and pointless? It's only grinding for the sake of grinding.

Over 50k to hollow out an asteroid? The developers have now become totally insane and delusional.

Building an industrial outpost, tonnage required has gone up. E.G CMM comp 3912 to 4399. Other mats are similar.
The spreadsheet is a guide to which commodities are needed and rough amounts, but for some reason the developers include some additional variation in the amounts when you actually build. Not sure whether there are factors which influence the amounts or just random variation. I gave up making a spreadsheet for all builds for this reason and just have one where I fill out the actual amounts each time I build something.

If two identical build types are done next to each other, do they compliment each other, enhance productivity or just act like two times the first one?

Guess the main answer involves a plentiful supply of bio waste.

Nope the answer involves spreadsheets again, because it will depend - there are builds which have a fixed local-to-them market economy, there are builds that have an influence on other nearby builds (and we now know "nearby" is a very strict definition and a hint the definition may change) and there are builds which do at least one of the above AND provide "System Economy Influence."

And beyond that, you will have (presumably) the buffs and nerfs on the sliders, applied twice, which might then have other secondary effects, like for instance it might bump you over "Shipyard" TL all of a sudden.

EDIT: There's another thread for that, this thread is about Tiers. The other thread: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...hat-all-these-numbers-do.634214/post-10589685

Thanks for your excellent work. Do you have any comments on the work flow for quick system startups for solo architects?

Cost over runs on the pilot project. That's life.
That's outright stupid. It's not like the costs change because deliveries get attacked by pirates or by unforeseeable factors during the process. You're paying to be allowed to grind for nothing and you can't even see in advance how much grinding is involved, and when you decide you don't want to do it because the grinding is too much, you lose all your money. That's merely a scam.

Imagine what construction companies in real life would answer to a proposal like that, if they even give an answer. They don't work for nothing to begin with and may or may not do extra work and if they do, they still don't work for free. They have their resources scheduled and tied up for the next project; and when more work is required, they might not do it because they may get fined when they don't do the next project in time. If you want them to operate like that, you'll have to pay for it, and still they might not do it for all the money in the world because there aren't so many people able to do the work. I don't know where you live, but it's reality here. Even supermarkets are partly closed here because they can't find the employees they would need so you can't buy meat anymore even if you could afford it.

Hopefully someone can answer this? Do construction points gained from building in one system carry over into a new claim or are they only for use in the system you earned them in?
Thanks.

Well, this is definitely a thread I wish I'd read before experimenting with Colonisation.

Having come back from the deep for the recent CG I thought I'd finally dip my toes into this new feature, so I found an unclaimed system close to one of my regular haunts; very basic, just two stars, no planets, and four slots for orbitals.

The first problem was that either the Tier system is broken, or my understanding of it is. I have no Construction Points that I'm aware of (where do I even find them listed?) yet the game seemed happy for me to pick a Tier 2 Coriolis as my Primary Port. Perhaps I should have erred on the side of caution since this is technically a beta, but the commodity requirements for the Coriolis didn't seem much higher than those for a basic Military Outpost, and just about within my means if I dedicated a few hours a week for the next month to solo trucking in the T9. So I pulled the trigger on the Coriolis, deployed the beacon and watched the megaship arrive, which revealed...

The second problem, which is that all of the commodity requirements are significantly higher than those "advertised" on the pick-a-Port screen. In some cases, such as Steel and CMM Composites, the requirements are more than 4x the original quote. There's no way I'm going to be able to pull off those sorts of logistics in four weeks on my tod, so I guess that's a few million credits up the Swanee. Annoying but hey, it's a beta.

Still, I'm kinda hoping these are bugs of some sort rather badly-documented design choices (or poor comprehension on my part). Because if the numbers I've seen are representative then it looks as though Colonisation, like Fleet Carrier ownership before it, is another feature that I'll be priced out of by virtue of not having multiple hours per week to dedicate to the game. I understand the need to appeal to group play and to reward cooperation, but it does feel as though solo players forced into the "involuntary casual" category* through lack of free time are being dealt a poor hand again.

* "incas?" 😉
