First I apologize for my English, it is not my main language.

I've been looking at the reviews for Starfield and there is a unanimous positive opinion on the ship creation feature.

I think this feature would work in an MMORPG that has few updates, since it would give it almost infinite life for many years, everyone would have the ships they wanted, the number of them would be almost infinite, Frontier could earn money by creating cosmetic pieces. sporadically.

What problems would Frontier have to solve to bring this great idea from Starfierld to E.D.

PS: with instantiated interiors, like the interior of the ship carrier, not as recreated by SC, I think it would be the best option.

It's a technical problem for MMO to synchronize all random views people can do. That's why ALL MMOs sell presets AKA skins. So clients just exchange simple numbers like "head, ID 2304" and another client shows the same item.

Elite has modules from day 1. But set and view of it must be standard for all.

Your English is great ;)

I think the ED engine would need a rework to accommodate this. My thinking is a lot work would be involved and, at this stage of the game's life, probably not something they have the resources for.

Sadly, as ship customisation would be great.

EDIT sort of got Ninja'd there :D

Elite dangerous already does it, besides all the Mmorpg too.
every time you see a character, you see them with different pieces to differentiate them from the rest.
Maybe the pieces could be limited to 3 (cab, body, engines)

The proper answer to this would be procedurally generated ships, but that opens an entire other can of worms because Frontier bases its ship designs on the model and animation of the model (hardpoints, utility mounts, landing gear, etc), not on any function of the ship.

You would need to make an entirely new engine functionality to have unique ship design, and Frontier would probably try to monitize it.

Body parts are selected out of small list, you can not move your eye to the leg == presets.

ED was first, so make SF copy it. Since we love copying so much.

Come back when they've got the 400B systems and we will reveal their next task!

It's not the idea, it could always have the same layout, cab in front, bodywork in the middle, engines in the back. but although I was not referring to what you say, what you say can also be done technically.

people should stop avoiding assuming reality, stargield and elite dangerous are part of the same kind of space games, just with different styles and designs. Put the excuse aside.
People will keep making the comparison and people will keep telling them not to :)

Comparers are going to compare.
