We've established Lave to rhyme with Dave as an official pronunciation on the unofficial Galnet YouTube channel! As a result, there's now thousands of YouTube viewers who think it's "Lave" to rhyme with Dave if they had no previous thoughts on it.

Consistent pronunciation amongst reporters is a constant problem for us there. Lave's one of the "easier" ones.
We do research existing precedent but unless we can find one, we have to make it up. "Falisci" is a good example of one where I couldn't find a valid English language pronunciation. "Quenisset" (French astronomer, therefore French pronunciation) is a good example of one where we had precedent.
It's when we have to read aloud things like "Aisling Duval" and "Éamonn Uí Laoghire" that I'm thinking, "come on, you're just trolling us now!"
