Corsair is deeply disappointing

Stick PAs on it and put it in a CZ and it's an absolute monster. If FDev keep up with this sort of ship they need to take SCBs off NPCs as there's not enough time to fire them before the shields collapse.

So does it compete with P2 and FdL in your opinion?
I will speak for PVP 1v1 scenarios, cuz thats more my forte than wing stuff. Maybe someone else can speak more about wing fights with corsiar.

To anwser your question: Quite well. It got like more than twice as much hull points on average, higher mass so it better for ram and despite being less manuverable than those two, its better when compared to mamba (wich is only litte faster than it), as have much less drag, and along its speed, so those fdl or p2 cant really outmanuver it to the point, where Corsair cant bear its own fixed weapons on those. It can hold really well if well handled. Smaller profile than other two, makes it quite hard to hit, once shieldless, it has good profile and tight fixed coverage.

Imperial to the core, with very strong ram ability being its signature trick, along high speed. Personally I think its best possible biwave hull tank ship in game of them all, but tons of other setups are possible as well. It also got probly best "brakes" on all ships so far, as it can easly goto standstill from max speed, wich helps a lot with range control...

Its 600 m/s quintesentiall CQC ship, where using PAs or variant with 6x SRB rails to soften up, followed by ram, deals absurd amount of dmg... since its much faster, heavier and have better shields, than krait II for example, wich is probly most similar to Corsair, of all ships I can think off... in bulid variety (same bulids will work better)
Long range rails variant for reverski lovers can work too, and in fact, is also one of most effective bulids around for it, but it can be pain for many to bear fighting such one. There is so many options with this ship. 6x flechette bulids are broken as well (if target is willing to stay long enough for it to work)

It got good, if not best flexibility for its durability options... since it can be either biwave hull tank, shieldless funny hull hulltank, or biwave hulltank with SCBs, and still over 3k hull on least armoured variant. Maxed hull variants reaches 4-5k easly, and when funny hulled, it can easly reach over 20k on thermal alone on its hull.

Shield focused bulids with lesser hull points, can be decent as well (many options also), but its better to focus on hull, less on shields to get most of it, I think.

Size 7 distro works well with those full rail or PA bulids on Corsair, while with ramming dmg, wich majority of fdl or p2 would rather avoid, once thier prismatics gets too low or when gone... especially SCB bulids, are in big disadvantage, if they get rammed. Non-PVP bulids gets either one-shoted by PA + ram combo, or critically damaged with barely any hull left, so those PVE fdls and p2, are joke to this ship. Non-PA Fdl and P2 bulids will struggle a lot, to deal with such, by using regular weapon like lasers or mc's, and Corsair is likely to outtank those easly, thanks for absurd hull potential (regadless if normal hull or funny hull exploited)

It’s good to hear some positive PvP feedback. I’ve mostly heard criticism but, as a non-PvPer, I kinda feel it’s because it need to be flown different to a FDL. In my experience whenever you’ve been in a single ship for a long time, switching makes the new ship feel inferior.

Well said. I think most of those who complain about its handling, trying fly it like FDL or P2 and thats exacly is the issue.
It has be used bit diffrently, and I am preety sure many will start view it diffrently.
But I guess, bit of time need to pass on, before more cmdr "learn" how to use it. It always was like this.

This ship flying behavior, is very unique, but it has some similarites both to courier, and cutter, how it handles in certain ways.

I found using cutter turning techniques, works best, where rolling+yaw+pitch + 8-way lateral combo is used in certain way to archive faster turn rates, to bit quicker turn than using just roll+pitch without laterals... Of course, during perma boosting. Mix of FAOFF and FAON required with proper timing while switching assists... Good timing with boosting is also required, as the plain perma boost spam, does not work too well, has to well-timed to avoid blackout, but when done corectly, the boosted turns that are on borderline to almost causing blackouts, can be really, really tight and sharp, with next to nothing of drag. Only small racing ships can archive similar.

Something like this, making curves like this: ↪️ ↩️ at same time with 8-way laterals following similar "pattern", with well-timed assists switching and boosting.
I have no idea how to explain it easier.

The basic ones had names like Vibrant, or Tactical, or Military and came in a range of colours* for most if not all ships at all times and at reasonable prices.

The Galactic Patrol used/will spend huge sums to get the black covering for their undetectable speedsters less reflective which shows how not basic black is.

*and before Arx came in packs of the different colours

I bought one or more of those three packs for most of my ships back in the day. 6 paint jobs for about $5 IIRC. And the Yen was about ¥100 to the dollar so about ¥90 per paint.

Now it costs 10 ARX per Yen so the typical 3500 Arx paint job costs ¥350.

It’s ironic that I can now buy a 300g steak and veg or premium, deep dish Chicago Pizza loaded to the gills with meat and veg… in central Tokyo… for the price of a single Ship Kit. (¥1700)

They say food and drink inflation is sky high but that has nothing on Elite Cosmetics.

When you compare the cost of the DLC for Planet games (which contain many items) with the exorbitant cost of DLC for Elite Dangerous you wonder what is going on (especially since those involve a rake-off to Steam). Do they just know that ED players will pay anything for a shiny new paint job or a three-item ship kit? Are we just exemplars of Barnum's quip?

Try charging £4.99* for a single ride in Planet Coaster or a single animal with no scenery for PZ and no doubt the internet would go into melt-down. ;)

* That is under 10K arx so won't even cover many of the paint jobs.

Simple supply and demand. If people are still paying and income is at a level you're happy with, the price is right.

You don't see the same in the other games because, well, just check out the number of forum posts as an indication of popularity. Basically, less popular product -> less demand -> lower prices.

Ever since launch of elite dangerous, I think paintjobs was always popular item, but they where much, much more cheaper. Cmdrs love thier ships, and preety sure that majority of them, brought paintjobs for thier favorite ships, before ARX came out.

Prices went up, when ARX became a thing. But at same time, the "carrot" of free 400 ARX per week, was given so those who play regularly, can get cosmetic or two per year, for free... but in return, the value of paintjobs went skyhigh.

Whoever at Frontier figured out and designed ARX system, probly they got promoted for that, as profits went considerably up, for same digital cosmetic items.
