Corvette thoughts

It looks like over-kill for PvE. Forget about point defence. Use shield boosters instead, then your shields will never go down and you can get rid of all those module and hull reinforcements and the armour. That'll get you a bit more speed and jump range.

It is overkill for PvE but playing open only I want it to last until I can either get clear or hold it's own in PvP. (No experience of PvP though so probably be the first option more than once haha. At least until I find out why I'm not seeing anyone. 4 hours bounty hunting at Shinrata and not a peep despite it being a griefers paradise apparently)

My experience and style say to hull tank whenever possible but it sounds like most go with Shield tanking instead. My FGS can last right through a CZ with no shields for the most part but that's the dakka brick. A vette will be a learning curve I hope.

As for Jump range I'm not too bothered. I tend to transfer them into wars and hang around until the tick before jumping in my 45ly Asp and repeating. Both my T7 and Python run cargo and general missions so don't need her for that either. Not into a general purpose warship. It's a Corvette, probably one of the few purpose built battleships in the game (until we get access to the Cap ships 🙈)

It's all personal, obviously, but I found I just don't need the HRPs/MRPs.
I started off with a bunch of them and gradually swapped them out, with the intention that I'd stop removing them when I found I was taking hull damage.
It just didn't happen.
I ended up leaving a couple in just cos it felt like the right thing to do.
I also have the AFMU just in case a lucky hit does module damage and causes something to malfunction.

If I ever lose my shield, I can either skulk away and reboot my shield if I'm fighting NPCs or if it happens when I get attacked by a CMDR I'll just run and hide.
In either case, my hull's strong enough to avoid getting exploded before I can carry out my plan.

I'll probably end up doing the same. A paper build like this is rarely as perfect as it looks. Lots of good tips though so I'll play around until I get the balance I like! Ideally I want a build that just destroys every 'tasty cargo' d%$#head it comes across like they don't exist 😂

Rep++++++++ for everyone who helped, chuffed with the response. And I'm making a war whale next so your spam post helped as well ;)

Small charges? Got more chance of getting out of your chair and throwing grenades...

I've just torpedoed my own thread..
