Cowards disconnect

Come on Asp, you always troll the other threads with your networking stuff and sure it's true but this is a serious in game issue that has plagued pc and has obviously started to become an issue for the xbox players.

It's not just an issue that affects players being shot up by random pkers it affects pvp bounty hunting and legitimate piracy.

It doesn't matter what any platform any player is using. UDP is simply UDP, and your router is your weapon.

There are solutions, as posted in many threads on these forums:

- implement a proper / appropriate security response for ppl who commit murder
- implement a player bounty / mission system that makes it easier for players to hunt down pirates (BB missions to hunt players, better System tracking of players, guaranteed instancing of pirates with players who have taken the mission to hunt them)
- more long term enhancements, like NPC security wings available for hire by traders
- etc.

The problem is that the security response, in its current form, is woefully inadequate.

Those a pretty good suggestions and should definitely be submitted to FD but I was speaking in terms of what a player is able to do not FD implementing new strategy to combat greifers that's going to take time if it ever even happens. My idea was mostly just to help people avoid the situation as much as possible until something like this can be implimented not encourage people to move to solo mode

And as far as the OP, combat logging should be a bannable offense but I feel that maybe another way would be xboxs whole rating system if they linked that and made it so you could rate other players in Elite based on your interaction with them if you gave them a low unprefered rank maybe it could put you or them into a different server. I know FD talked about this at one point speaking on the possibility of a greifer server kinda I guess on the same principle as GTAV dunce cap server but I see this being a slight ways off. As far as pirating goes it's a legitimate in game profession and there's really no arguing that at least to a certain extent but anyone who's just running around destroying ships isn't a true pirate and I would hunt them as well

I think the ability to hire NPC escorts would be great. The price could go up depending on their combat rank and type of ship, so a deadly python would cost a buttload. I also think there should be special bounties for hunting pirates. That's supposedly the entire risk of pirating: huge profit by stealing other's cargo provided you can get away from the authorities. But in this game pirating really doesn't seem worth it monetarily, as a ship nimble enough to take out thrusters and then launch a cargo hatch limpet breaker can barely hold any cargo compared to a type 9. It would be interesting if when you played in a pirate (or bounty hunting) wing you could share profits, so someone could have a big ship with lots of cargo space and mass to mass lock victims while nimbler ships disable it.

And the IP's that do so will be lulzbanned - and their sweet, sweet tears of RAEG laughed at :)
The IP ban is meaningless. I have 3 separate IP's, 2 gaming machines hardwired to 2 and a router on the 3rd. 3 computers have onboard Ethernet and an added Ethernet card. I could run circles around that nonsense. I'm not even a hacker or pirate. :)

Traders should play on solo anyway, logically it's way more safe.

Logically? Hmm I would question such LOGIC from someone who is supporting pirates. Logically if they all did solo, who would you pirate? Hmm didn't think that one out did ya bub.

Either way. I will hold an invite only PVE server just like MOBIUS same as we have on PC. And all ye pirate$ can enjoy each other.

The thing to understand is that this is a game, not real life. If someone wants to disconnect at a certain time, it'd be real tricky to tell them they can't. What if their power went out? Lost their connection? Wife's water broke and needed to rush to hospital?

Speaking purely from a legal standpoint, it's really, really tricky to say "you can't log out at certain times because you'll be banned". Then you get a certain percentage of completely innoncent paying customers getting the ban. IMO, it's far less damaging to just accept the fact that some people will combat log, though I will admit to not understanding those people - if this is what you're going to do, why not just play in solo in the first place? But, whatever the case, I doubt that any policy restricting people from logging out any time they please can fly legally.

Someone who doesn't combat log most likely doesn't get disconnected more than once or twice per week. A combat logger most likely disconnects way more times than this, and that is how one can find out if someone is a combat logger.

And I do hope that combat loggers gamertag gets banned, or that FD put in a 5 minute timer.

The thing is anyone who is a dedicated combat logger would presumably figure out that it would be prudent to have lots of disconnects when not in combat to make it less obvious.

This also highlights the reasons for FD's no name and shame policy - some people appear to confuse dropping out of SC with "combat logging".

It's clearly a tricky thing for FD to deal with fairly and effectively which is presumably why nothing much appears to have happened on the issue since they commented on it months ago..

You can always just block or lulzban players who don't play in a way that fits your playstyle. There is absolutely nothing wrong with making a mindless pew-pew puke cry and RAEG :D

Pew-Pew - I SHUDDA bl0s u up coz us it in MY SPAEC ana I OWNZ ITZ!

Player - I'm terribly sorry. Perhaps there is someone over there who cares?

Pew-Pre - I OWNZ U U <UDP connection failed>

Player - What a Windows ME - another IP for the grinder

This sounds like such a hassle though. A person would spend just as much time in the game as they were restarting their router or starting the game and being on the loading screen. But I can see your point. Maybe a 5 minute timer is the way to go instead.
