There is a possibilty the devs do know what's wrong, but it won't get properly fixed because they'll just wait for the hardware to be good enough to hide the bad coding and lack of optimisation. They realesed this "DLC" full price at the time they did. How did it get through quality control, and 6 months on with no "real" improvement when compared to Horizons! You gain 10fps from 30fps in settlements and stations now take 2 seconds to pop into reality!
The programmers made this DLC, they know exactly how bad it is! They tested it, they played it! They "quality" tested it?
No matter how much we investigate reasons why it runs so badly, the developers already know exactly why it's running so poorly. If they don't, then that's a really bad statement on the quality of the current programming team!
The question is can they fix it? They have had 6 months and am not seeing much progress seeing this was a "finished" fullprice realase!
Personally think F-DEV don't care and will constantly use the minimum till the player
base shut up or drift away to Star Citizen. All the while trying to squeeze more ARX from us till somebody finally turns of the light.

Stealth SC promotion via Elite degradation really shouldn't be tolerated IMO. This post adds absolutely nothing of value to the thread but to doom and offer up SC as the 'salvation'.They realesed this "DLC" full price at the time they did. That is the opposite of excellent cooling. And I'd say it is not related to Elite in your case, any other GPU heavy game like Anno 2070 or Metro Exodus would fry your GPU in the same way, if not worse. Check your airflow and GPU cooler.I have excellent cooling, and nearing planets (regardless of settings except resolution decreasing) will cause the gpu edge and interconnect temps to max out. like 115C+.

Understood to a degree, but FDev request player feedback on the issues so it's not as cut and dry as you say. I'm not disagreeing that FDev need to fix what can only be described initally as a clusterf*** but these aren't pointless. If my comment missed the mark, I apologize. o7Not really! lol
The people who programed Odyssey know more about what the issues are than we the player base. So we can theories as much as we want, but the programmers made this mess, are aware of what's causing the issues and only they can fix it (if they can)

Rumor is it was the end of their fiscal year and the bean counters wanted it released. They realesed this "DLC" full price at the time they did. How did it get through quality control, and 6 months on with no "real" improvement when compared to Horizons!
If anything, having to only get it working to a single specification rather than the myriad of configs on the PC platform will be the thing that allows them to make it work. With a target of 30fps I think they may already be mostly there.I have no idea how they're going to make it ready for consoles.
No. Not really
I run ED on a laptop. and my RTX3080 does not exceed 82°C - usually it stays between 71°C and 80°C
That is excellent cooling (the cooling is silent enough that i can play with laptops speakers at low volume)
Yes actually, though some games now offer a high framerate/performance mode.30 fps is acceptable for consoles?
I mean, it has been since the PS2 era. Even PS5 games usually run at 30fps. We are only just now finally seeing console games offering the option for 60fps Performance modes.30 fps is acceptable for consoles?
I have to wonder if the AI + navmesh stuff is on the same thread(s) as all of the other rendering. Now that I'm thinking about NPCs specifically, almost every recent crazy frame drop I've had was in a populated settlement. Empty ones have been pretty stable. Maybe Update 9 will end up being the big performance boost.A few minutes ago I was in a CZ and the ennemy AI was stuck spinning on the same spot...during this "AI bug" I had a steady 5 FPS during close to 1 minute...my GPU & CPU usage was around 30%...
