Cross platform play

Any news on the above, I had a quick search but there is so much trash in each thread that I got miffed of looking,

So with the soon to come PS5 and the ability to play PS4 games then the added processing power and graphics should give some great play back, and would be great if we could play cross platform to take advantage, most of my faction are on PC and if we could just swap my commander over i probably now would, but cross platform would be so much better.

I disagree that crossplay would be a good thing. Consider the following, we already have gankers, just imagine having to combat gankers that have voice attack and multiple third-party apps that are giving them benefits you could only dream of having. Its the same reason i wont crossplay other pvp games. PC has a clear advantage with mods and third party add ons and i want nothing to do with it.

Funny, I play on PC with a DS4 controller and nothing else (except pretty graphic mods), and I've yet to meet a ganker that's any better than the gankers I used to contend with on PS4. This boogie man living under your bed isn't the threat you think it is.

I agree with mick. Fair PvP would be dead for console players, as the pc-players have unfair advantages, like external Tools, Scripts (e.g. for super fast pip setting, instead of fiddling with the d-pad while in combat, etc). - and there are a whole bunch of them. Tools, that track other players (EDR), or tools that circumvent game mechanics (e.g. the target lock breaker) by recording inputs and replaying them, etc. You see some pc pilots using them in their combat videos. For me it's kinda cheating and i'm happy of not having those on our console platform.
Despite the above mentioned tools in a grey area, there are also real cheating tools on pc. Many pc-Pvp-Pilots, which I know, have hard times collecting evidence and reporting those cheaters. Do you really mess around with those cheaters on console as well?! I don't think so.

And I say this, as a pvp-oriented pilot (and sometimes the bad boogieman). If you only play pve-content solo or in group than crossplay won't affect you anyway.

So make cross-play optional, so people who want to continue to play in PS4 "Private Group" can continue to do so if they wish. No need to punish everyone else because of the fears of a few.

Yes, more seperate modes is what this game needs... sarcasm

crossplay between ps4 and xbox would be great, because it has similiar ways of gameplay.

No the PC user will not Put up with the crap limits Required by consoles... and Console hosts in an instance will restrict asset generation...
Over half the Ships missing in a conflict zone/has res site...
Over HALF the mining rocks removed from mining rings...
Assets missing on a planet when in SRV driving...
Pop up distance of items increased so that the PC can only see assets in game at the same time as Console...

The PC GPU Class Will ALLWAYS out do the console generation the RTX2080 Is all due a replacement and is allready state as out of date as another number has been announced, cards like the 1660 allready was a low tier card... the PC game player will not allow downgrades...

Your argument is that because it potentially impacts PvP, no-one should have it. Surely a lot of this is mitigated by linking up with one of the many squadrons of decent players out there.

Having more players to wing up with for trade/mining/missions/CZs/bounty hunting/Thargoid hunting is going to outweigh the PvP issues for a significant proportion of the player base.

You can only have 3 other players in your wing. I have more than enough in squadron to do that anyways. this argument weak as if you want to play with others, not having crossplay is not stopping that

Than FD should do something against cheating with scripts, trainers, input recorders etc. But honestly: Will they do? You know the answer.

I’ve only ever seen man baby cheaters in other online games and experiences. I have a PC and have played quite a few online games.

The supposed cheaters here and as described are not in any way like my experienced examples. The fact I cannot witness this for myself within ELITE, without playing against a PC player with these ‘cheats’ means I can not confirm it is cheating.

OK my lowly sad time examples, sorry, these are really dumb.

In FPS games, I have had players that can find ‘out of bounds’ regions then snipe you from there. Returning fire would be impossible as your shots would hit geometry.

Then there were the rubber band controller cheater Boi babies, who would have their player spin 360 on the spot endlessly. But they would gain XP/credits etc while doing so.

ELITE requires skill, these ‘other game‘ man babies do not have skill or require any skills to cheat. In voice attack you still have a hell of a lot going on and to deal with, yes it’s quicker, but it still requires skill. Controlling by KB & mouse still requires skill.

Using a gamepad, requires skill.

If I didn’t make it clear in my ‘skill’ post, I really want crossplay, I think it would be very beneficial for the whole ELITE community and certainly Squadrons/Factions etc.

I suppose I should have used

I totally understand the argument surrounding PC Cmdrs potentially (depending on what scripts/tools they're utilising ) having an unfair advantage...hell, it is what it is . However, I do think there is a place for cross play. Would be great to be able to choose which platforms you wish to work with/against...have the ability to switch x-play on/off in open , and the ability to have private groups with Cmdrs from other platforms

Cross platform has been implemented in NMS and from what I've experienced with it, it seems to work okay (though I should mention, I don't really hammer NMS as much as I do ED)

tbh I just want to move my ps4 account over to PC so I can play elseware other than my living room and have access to the extra mods without the negative of loosing my ships and credits.
