Crossplay

The one with all the PC cheaters on it which has forced console users to disable crossplay...
COD MW 2019 and the Warzone F2P add on...
You can use K&M on the title on console but console users can not use the bots that PC users can... so there is no point enabling crossplay..
CoD is probably the worst example of a game you could have to start rolling out crossplay to, I'm really not surprised that this happened there. Arguably though, I'd say that cheating being able to happen on any platform is a problem that the developer needs to deal with. Although saying that, even on console I've seen plenty of players cheating (exploits rather than bots etc.) so it seems endemic to those sorts titles. As a result I don't play them any more.

As for ED, I'm on a few discords groups with PC players and cheating in this game is something that rarely comes up FWIW.

This is the other reason I prefer playing games like Overwatch and Battlefield on console rather than PC.

Since I don't do hardcore PvP in Elite, this is not an issue for me on PC. Though I will confess that VR gives me a distinct advantage over 2D, in that I myself am much better at combat with the wide FOV and native "headlook" VR gives me.

PvP is not really important for me on Elite, so for me it's not really relevant for cross play. Maybe give an option if it's a real concern.

Having said that I do have both PC and PS4 and I wouldn't really see macros or VR being a massive advantage.

In general I think having cross play as an option is a must for any contemporary multi player game now. If controller or peripheral settings give a huge advantage to one side or the other then just have an option to opt out or match by controller setting.

A complete lack of cross play as an option detracts from the experience far more, for me. I also think it goes against the rest of the galaxy being inhabited with shared assets ... including fleet carriers soon..!

I can understand that. In PvP you could also say the same about Console controller vs Console HOTAS

Not really - console users can use hotas too... but they can't use PIP macros, nor Voice Attack, nor kb/m relative mouse
Also, while cheating is not really prevalent in ED, it can definitely be an issue when crossplay between PC and Consoles.

So, as i said already:
Crossplay between consoles, Hell YES.
Crossplay between consoles and PC, nope.. not really.

Yeah agree, what I was trying to convey is, in a PvP scenario, some would see a console user with a HOTAS having an advantage over a console user with a controller (and vice versa).

So any cross play should offer the option to opt out completely, or match make with other users based on controller type in-use. Or just opt in to full fat cross play. My opinion.

personally with all third-party tools like game glass and voice attack I'd rather not have cross-platform giving an advantage over console cmdrs. But that's just me and I'm sure I'm a minority in this opinion so I really don't think it matters
Are you a hard-core PvPer? I don't use any of these tools on PC, just my trusty PS4 controller, and I've yet to feel at a disadvantage playing against others. Two things kill me in ED - fair superior enemy builds (these stupid G5 FDLs) and bandwidth / networking. For example, I've been rammed to death with the enemy not coming close to me from my vantage point, which I'm guessing means he's on a super low-latency fiber optic line (sadly I am not). But for the most part, this isn't an issue. I've won many CQC matches where the odds are pretty much even ship-wise, and I have no voice commands, no HOTAS, no macros, just VR as my only advantage. Regarding VR, the PS4 players have gyroscopic headlook which is almost as good, something we don't have on PC :(

Now if I was playing a FPS where it's my DS4 vs a mouse and keyboard sniper, I would be singing a different tune. I suppose if all you do is top-tier PvP in ED against agile ships using rails, this is where PC players will have an advantage. But for me, the pros of crossplay in Elite far outweigh the cons.

i play on XB using an MS Elite Controller (the paddles and the stick curves are really neat)
On PC i play using kb and relative mouse. And i use a Corsair mouse with 17 buttons and i mapped the 4 basic pip macros.
Having those pip macros readily available is a such unbelievable advantage that it can make a random build a really marvelous one... It's one of the things that i really miss on XB

I'll make sure to block you for cheating :p
