Note that geological signal sites generally are much more spread out than the crystalline shard sites. You should be driving around the site looking for crystalline fragments as these will drop selenium 2/3 of the time. The sites are also pretty big in comparison to the shard sites. You may of course also look for any other materials that you are low on from other drops, but if you were already at the shard sites you will probably already be full on those.

Do you hae a map of the best geo sites to check as I will have to try a few. Also why not bio sites polporus growths? they drop selenium?

Any geo signal should have plenty of crystalline fragments. Just land on one that looks flat. Relogging does not make a difference.

But roughly how many seleniumX3 should I get at each geo site? I want to know to know when to move to next one if necessary. I need another 120 so 40 drops.

It is a bit random. Just drive around the geo site until you don't find any more crystalline fragments. Then move on.

Found a thread talking about selenium planets. I thought Prthi was a good bet so went there expecting better results than LHS 417 above. No such luck. So went back to LHS 417 and I will continue going to all the geo sites there until I fill my selenium cargo hold. But it is all good experience and I prospected rocks while roaming on prthi so that was useful.

I tend to try to cover the whole site in a spiral or whatever works for the terrain and shoot all the targets and collect the materials whatever they are, if I can scoop them up I was short of that material if I can't I was full, I move to the next site when there are no more targets or no more reachable targets.

Remember to either note the site numbers or visit them in a set order to avoid repeat visits.

Bio sites are much much rarer than geo ones. Out in the dark black depths of the galaxy they are even rarer in most regions.

Bio sites follow different rules to geo, all need for geo is heat and/or gravity, some bio often appear only in particular areas of the galaxy, it sometimes requires particular temperatures are star types, some of it only appears in nebula, the actual rules are known only to FDEV and we can infer from what we find but can never know if we are right.

Well I got there in the end! 150 units of selenium and it only took me 7 hours in total! I went to 15 geo sites on the planet and even took a detour to Prthi to do traditional prospecting - which was way too slow.
So my visit to the crystalline shards ends with a trip to Orodruin's selenium planet so I didnt have to do the shards run again. Turns out it would have been quicker! But I needed the experience in the srv with the scanner and geo site prospecting and also hopping from one geo site to another on the same planet was useful.
