Custom bookmark folders in the galaxy map - mockup

It may be a bit soon, we're not even in Q1 Update yet, but this could be a nice addition for the game once we get the exploration overhaul by the end of the year. I recently made a couple pictures of how I imagine some kind of sorting capabilities for the galmap bookmarks.

And it might be useful to have a button for hiding all bookmarks in one group if you don't want your map full of icons you don't need right now, like a route to Beagle Point or something.

Also, there could be only one DELETE button instead of two and then having the GROUP ONLY/EVERYTHING question inside the confirmation prompt.
Do you think this could be a thing?

Please make this a thing. Last night I had to go through each of my bookmarks to remind myself why they were there. needless to say I ended up deleting most of them in an effort to tidy it up. but what's left would be really handy if I can customer label them where I can get materials from, places I find beautiful, and so on.

I'll give this my support. I've been pretty stringent about triaging what needed a bookmark and what didn't, even using alphabetical prefixes to sort them in some cases, but even so I still find it a mess to navigate. This solution seems both useful and elegant, and the UI changes are minor enough that it shouldn't throw anyone off (which of course is not the same as it being minor work to implement, which it may very well NOT be).

This gets a +1 from me!

So, bump. Can we have bookmark folders, please?

Not only could, it Should be a thing!
But then modules are still unsorted so don't hold your breath 🙂

:LOL: It's as relevant today as it ever was. Having the ability to arrange bookmarks into folders I can name, with different coloured icons for each folder, and the ability to toggle the display of individual folders and bookmarks on and off on the galaxy map remains to this day my single most wanted QoL feature enhancement for Elite.

And let's not forget, there's already precedent for this concept in the galaxy map commodity filters ...

What a coincidence. I’ve recently released a show calling for this and about a month ago when interviewing Bruce Garride (Frontier CM) I asked for same. It’s a huge QoL issue that would be most welcomed.
