Definitely go with the Armored PP with thermal spread and also if you have an SRV, turn it off. It doesn't need to be on until you've landed somewhere ready to use it. Also try and get a bigger fuel scoop if possible, it cuts down time around stars but draws a little more power.
Same for me, the Vette needs all the juice we can give, for the zillions of shields boosters and those huge hard points... I was forced to switch the beams from LR to efficient because I run a pair of Hammers also, and I was out of power...Overcharged powerplant should only ever be used as a last resort, when G5 Armoured and Monstered can't generate enough power.
The only ship I have with an overcharged powerplant is a Corvette with two huge G5 Long Range beam lasers.
Do you have the Guardian power plant unlocked? That runs cooler, you can't engineer it, but kicks out more power than a standard, non-engineered power plant. Don't know your power requirement but if it gives enough that would help. (Although I never have overheating issues in my Cutter so it feels more that there's an error in the build.)My Cutter wants to over heat any time I am fuel scooping over 400/s. My power plant is engineered to level 3 overcharged and the rest of the ship is pretty much stock except for the long range FSD. Is there any thing I can do to be able to scoop faster?
Agree on the Corvette, but do you use Guardian shield reinforcement? With that and a kill warrant scanner and a couple of overcharged beams on a combat build Krait I had to overcharge the power plant, IIRC the same for my FDL.Overcharged powerplant should only ever be used as a last resort, when G5 Armoured and Monstered can't generate enough power.

You can go with Armored PP up to grade 5 since you gain a decent amount of power but the heat still stay low, at comfortable levels. More, you gain extra protection for PP, a vital module in any ship.
