Game Discussions Cyberpunk 2077 - official gameplay

I fired up the game for the first time last night through GeForce Experience and running a 27" 2560x1440 monitor 1080ti combo it automatically set me up with a combination of mostly Ultra and some High settings, so that seems to be good so far. I was worried that my card was already ridiculously out of date but that doesn't seem to be the case. That's all on the plus side. On the not so plus side was the fact that playing roughly 45 minutes of the prologue the game didn't suck me in to it's world like the first time I booted up RDR2 and fell madly in love within the first half hour. After I shut Cyberpunk down (and I realize this is purely a subjective taste thing) I felt about as invested in returning to it as I would Rage 2.

45 minutes? How long did you spend on crafting your character - and which prologue (I only played corpo-rat so far, but I understand that the three backgrounds run different prologues)?
And yes, it starts out slow - but then, after all, the game needs to introduce you to its mechanics.

Ok, just checked my GOG charts. I'm now 60 hours in, and could start what looks like the final mission (chain?), i.e. the one where, before you go through the door, you get the warning that you'll lose all uncompleted side missions. Holding off on the main line now, as I want to complete the side missions (well, most of them - I don't care for fistfights) first.
Looking at those same stats, though, only 88% (probably of those who bought the game through GoG) completed the prologue, and just below 70% completed the initial story mission. Only 28% got to the final phase so far (just about where I am now), and only 17% actually have been doing Johnny's side missions.

I spent approximately 60 seconds with the character creator. As far as I can tell from my brief play time (and yes, I realize it was very short; games either suck you in to their world or they don't) your start is only meaningful to the first 10-20 minutes of story and where you physically start. I chose Nomad, but I suspect that becomes meaningless after you reach NC which I did within that session.

I'm not ripping on CP, I fully realize that I'm just relating my investment or lack thereof in the game "world" provided.

Well .... kind of.
You have three starts, Nomad, Streetkid and Corpo.
Each start has a unique start up until you get the cut-scene FMV "Hello Night City!" montage of you and Jackie.
During gameplay, there are moments mainly during conversations that will give you optional answers depending on the start you chose.

Other than that, there is no difference which start you choose.

I typically play these kinds of games with a gamepad controller but I'm not sure about this one. The little bit of shooting I did felt awfully loose. How are you all controlling your V?

Xbox elite controller here...but I played on the Xbox for many years before returning to PC...muscle memory and all that. It plays OK on the controller from my feeling of it...but I have the sensitivity turned right up and the off putting auto-aim turned off. I'm just as accurate with a controller as I am with mouse and keyboard due to extensive use playing twitch shooters and action/FPS games with it both on Xbox and PC.

Also Xbox elite controller here. Didn't change anything from the default controls (IIRC), but not playing shooty. If I need to shoot, it's more like spray&pray. Still ony first playthrough as cyber- something, though (int and cool now maxed out - and those legendary quickhacks are godmode).

Intend to do techie the next time round, will see how that will turn out with respect to shooting.

I am not a massive fan of gamepad controllers , Keyboard and mouse all the way for me .. I am "ok" at driving .... some of my cornering leaves a little to be desired.

I was going to try and carjack this sweet ride:

But found out I was not strong enough ... I had to drive off in my not so shiney "golf" which you can see in the background.

There is one of those available for free after you do a certain mission

Patience, young padawan, and keep your eyes open. There may be further possibilities.

Just finished my first playrough - male Corpo stealth pistol assassin with hetero romance, now doing female streetkid netrunner. I thought the pistol assassin was OP, Netrunner is broken imo. Just take over cameras and murder everything from a safe hidey hole. I find the writing and voice acting so engaging and the environment ridiculously 3d rich. Sooooo many easter eggs and nods to the genre and other games. Been a William Gibson fan since forever. I completely understand why the graphical hate is there, can't really defend the game on that front, but dang - the world is a big black marble in 2077 - almost feels like 2020.

Ahh... just completed my first playthrough as corpo netrunner, and restarted as nomad techie.
As a netrunner - if you think taking over their security right now is OP, wait until you get epic one-shot quickhacks. No need to murder anyone - the non-lethal quickhacks are at least as effective as the lethal ones.
And compared to the epic quickhacks, legendary is playing god.
