Game Discussions Cyberpunk 2077 - official gameplay

Just wanted say.. on my 1080ti.. and overclocked 2500k (4 cores!!!) i'm able to get a very, very nice 30-60fps at 1080p.. i know its an older game, but its in the next league of playable compared to starfield. The experience never dips below 30 even in city car chases, and because its cpu bottlnecked completely, its very smooth. It hits 60 at these settings very often.
Setting everything to low (But pedestrians to high) and turning on stuff like the extra facial animation details, 16x filtering, etc. and in raster rather than RT mode, it runs at 60 on my Ayaneo handheld. Easily competes with performance mode on a Series S.
Much better optimised game than many others I could name.
My main gaming laptop runs it smoothly with most settings to high at 1440p60 (I turn down the usual suspects like volumetrics to keep it steady)

I like how you don't need tech 20 to craft all the stuff now. Also looks better organized for focus on what you want to play.
Not binding cyberware to needing specific minimum stats in whatever area it boosts was a welcome change. It was wild that to get, for example, stuff that boosted your strength you already needed a high body stat. Far smarter to lock the capacity behind a tech stat of 15 and then allow folks to compensate for their deficiencies in other stats with cyberware, but get an additional boost based on the stuff they were good in.

I've given up trying to play any of my previous "V's". Can't help but keep trying to brute force my way through.

New run through as a netrunner, and while I'm not exactly happy, I'm finally starting to get to grips with it a little. Definitely requires a little more thought and careful application of firepower and I really don't like the tracing mechanic (if there's no enemy runner who the $%£" is tracing me?!) but I'm adjusting.

Most importantly. I'm still having fun.

Very obvious ghosting with ray reconstruction enabled in conjuntion with path tracing and frame generation, even with updated Streamline .dlls...shame really, as the performance uplift from ray reconstruction is quite significant. Will probably wait for that to be patched before sinking too much time into the new content, as I still have other games on my plate.

Apologies for being thick, if I install phantom liberty when it's released will the game still have all the original content with PL added in or does it give you a new main plot and lose the old one?
I've played the game about a third of the way through and loved it, I want to start again with the 2.0 patch but thought it would be better to wait for PL. Didn't know if I'll lose any of the original game though.

From their patch blurb (sorry no first hand experience here yet) you still have the full game, the DLC adds a new section to Night City from what I understand.

They recommend starting over, but I have finished the game twice I will just respec my characters and go through the DLC itself..

Hey noticed theres twitch drops available for cyberpunk, but not sure how impactful an armor set is for a single player RPG that has modding support.

Also it's my first time playing the game on patch 2, so quite excited. I don't really like punk or cyberpunk but there's something about the atmosphere of the world that has me hooked... the overall package is very strong.

The gameplay even feels fun, which I didn't require in w3..(Can't wait for my second play for that.. this time using a console controller because it might have been even broken with kbm it seems). Anyways.

I want some brightness/contrast/gamma sliders...game is way too dark and I really hate messing with my monitor settings (which are just fine for everything else). It runs just fine and dandy on my rig with nice fps on ultra (no RTX..because I hate it)...but I keep looking for a damned torch so I can see where I'm going

PL adds a whole new questline that unlocks after the main quest takes you to Pacifica, and runs in parallel to Takemura, Panam, and Judy's lines, and depending how you complete it can give an alternative choice to NocturneOp55N1 leading to a new ending. It seamlessly integrates with an existing game.

.... I just realised that this game is like rdr.. its so good that its convinced me to get so absorbed in a theme.. that i have zero interest in prior. Its quite special. I don't know if i should be lucky i saved my first play until now, but im definitely happy.

Also seems i've been playing shooters on controller with autoaim for too long.. can't even remember the last fps i've played on kbm, and i really suck at them now. Minor problem, sure it will be fixed in a few more hours.

@Old Duck unlike odd or starfield, this should run better on your 1660? :) Probably better to get a console though for the longer term (beats a 2k graphics card).

Just a word of caution, especially for PlayStation 5 gamers. There is a save file bloat glitch/bug that can eventually corrupt your savegame(s).
If the file(s) gets bigger than 8mb, it will corrupt, there is a Hotfix coming (2.01 but not released yet), however, the notes for the hotfix state that any corrupt saves cannot be recovered, so be warned.

I’m reading some real horror stories, people losing all their saves and 300+ hours of gaming.

Wow, this game.. the first time though is quite amazing it seems? Given all the bad publicity wasn't expecting it to be as top tier as witcher 3...

They aren't shy to tell a story in the same way.. and the caliber of.. everything.. is so strong. When you are so impressed and extremely absorbed in something you haven't previously liked.. too good.

Guessing phantom liberty is pretty good as well?.. both the expansions for w3 were exceptional, high points in the history of gaming... no less.

Yep over an hour went by.. and nothing but narrative.. here we go again. 🙏

TBH they used the same engine, the same team, and a lot of game systems are common (quests / gigs are typical CDPR), I think the bad publicity comes from console owners who got a poor technical release, and people who expected something else than a Deus Ex-like or TW3 with different characters and universe. A lot of people including on this forum seemed to expect some kind of GTA game which it is not at all.
My main concern was mostly CDPR staying very safely in a purely straight cyberpunk scenario for the main quest line, without deviating from the tropes associated to the genre - it's a bit scholar maybe. Some side quests are more daring but unfortunately they are not long enough, and there's not too many of them. I can understand as the game title is the genre name itself, they probably wanted to bring new people into the genre, and maybe they will explore around a bit more in DLC and their subsequent project (named "project Orion" so far ? IIRC - that's the one they are making using UE5).

Phantom Liberty is a notch above the storytelling in the base game, it’s blown me away so far.

Easily up there as one of the best expansions ever made.

o7 my 2o77 Chooms!

Finished PL this evening. Really tough to decide which decision to make at the end. Loved it though.

Have a few niggles with 2.0/2.01 but on the whole it's been a big thumbs up from me.

Yeah right. I'm very new to the whole thing and just finding my place at the club.

Don't spoil it for me, but without knowing, im still expecting all this edgyness to lead to something directly uncomfortable, like they very cheaply do in the story parts of diablo 4. Im suspecting though there's a chance it will never cross the line (and the measure is completely subjective)... but wow this is going to be good if they keep doing what they're doing with the defined level of respect they've shown so far. Because there's a fair amount of heat in the dish also.. and its always, and a constant.. just like the setting..

Which is probably what you're hoping they would cross right? :)

This is going to be crazy good if it stays at that same temperature throughout, accounting for plot moments etc.

Soon as I fired up 2.0 I had to turn off all the newly added aim assist features, as it was driving me up the wall how my vision kept snagging on every vending machine I looked at all of a sudden.

What they did do that was directly uncomfortable to me was a specific storytelling trope that only really seems to get me personally in a particularly visceral way any time I encounter it in film, books, or games.

There's a lot of really good, deep emotional stuff that really makes you care about what's happening to some of the characters, and if you find you can properly identify with the protagonist (I sure found her more relatable after the Heist, what with
the auras and blackouts matching my own epilepsy symptoms which might at any moment suddenly kill me)
then you'll slide right into the role. There's a lot that's pretty rewarding about the little details on replays too. From the more obvious stuff like your character's background opening up different dialogues (With the Corpo background for example,
one of Takemura's missions you can literally walk up to Arasaka's front door and blag your way in)
to the more subtle like info you picked up during a side mission in one part of the city adding dialogue choices and context which might influence your decisions to a wholly different side mission elsewhere which you might easily have already done first, possibly opening up opportunities for new rewards.

It's a rock solid cyberpunk story, I'll say that as someone literally looking over my laptop at a shelf full of Gibson, D!ck, Sterling, Shirow, etc.
