CZ's - i need to vent.

🤔 So you haven't even come across the almost invulnerable captains or OP Spec Ops yet?

P.S. Git gud scrub ;)

Hardly invulnerable. They are actually a lot more fun to fight than the rest of the CZ ships so I wish more of the regular ships were like them. Sure they are more aggressive and do more damage but they don’t seem as HP inflated as some of the rest of the CZ ships so that makes things more fun.

Bullet sponges is the worst kind of artificially increased difficulty.

IMO killing drives is much more reliable, and faster. But then again, pretty sure someone mentioned: it all comes down to build. OP possibly, after long break, isn't up with how to build/engineer weapons correctly. So with right loadout/upgrades, no ship in any CZ will have a chance to escape your pure DPS output, without any need to target specific modules.

Managed a personal best last night and popped a Vette at 87% hull through targeting its PP.

Sadly, despite our faction putting in a helluva showing at 3-3 we lost on the final day.

I suspect a PC (based on some of our Cmdrs seeing activity there) Fed based PF opposed to us flipping the system to Independent.

Thankfully we have allies to bolster our numbers, and will be trying again in the near future.

As far as CZ's go, sub-targeting and focusing targets is key. Most of our faction can solo highs easily enough but working in groups of 2+ makes them very trivial.

Put me down for a haz CZ vote too, those that can't handle a bit of engineering grind can stay playing in the kiddy pool with the pirates.

My experience is they need to be made more difficult if two or three enter a CZ there is no risk at all. Even alone there is very little.

Capital ships are weak, their guns don't really bother an engineered ship, they should be feared.

The last changes were good with low, med and high.. plus the tasks 5o perform to win the battle.

We just need high and med to be turned up a little.

Finally, someone who understands advanced combat and appreciates the thrill of a good challenge (y)

I do appreciate that the new opponents in CZs have phasing lasers, prismatic shields, and oddball stuff like corrosive missiles. Bullet spongeyness is a pretty low level dev response, but is consistent with engineering.

What I have always found weird in CZs is the targeting prioritization. If you accidentlly fly through the middle of the zone, you are swarmed. So, you spend your time peeling away the onion until the spec ops show up. Not awful, just weird. Plenty of other ally npc ships fly through the middle f the cz, do they get swarmed? Maybe, I haven't observed it though.

Until recently the only way I could get any kills in a cz was to spray n pray multis with premium ammo. I've improved my skills a bit.

Just another grindlord who confuses gear grind with skill acquisition.

I'm on PS4 so have had the game for years less than most other player on here.

Sure, things have gotten easier over time, but "grindlord?" C'mon, mat gathering is a breeze nowadays, and with the rng removed from engineering we have clearly defined targets to aim for.

..... i went into a CZ with my fully modded Chieftain.....

Who knows, maybe I've learnt a few skills too based on our separate experiences?

its a fully modded G5 chieftain, triple thermal vent beams, an corrosive mc and dual pacifier frags. the conda couldnt even hurt me, as i could stay on his tail all day.
but him running away just took my satisfation of killing him in the end.

Your weapon loadout is half-wasted, as your TV Beams have nothing to cool. Try 2xSRB or LR Rails w/SP and an OC Cyto. You can strip shields faster and destroy FSDs quickly, thus your problems are solved. If you want help with small ships, swap the Cyto for a gimballed Beam. Small and medium Beams can't touch the Cyto for SDPS, they are really only helpful if you are flying a ship that can't maintain ToT (not an issue with Chieftain), you have a hard time with small agile targets, or you need cooling to prevent overheating. I'd do triple small Rails rather than small Beams on a Pac/MC Chieftain. Small Beams are really only useful on an agile ship as a cooling utility, both their damage and damage per energy are laughable.

You misunderstood me. My point is that by drinking from the fountain of power creep you remove the skill requirements. Players can brag all day how easily they beat some basic game AI that has been buffed up on hitpoints with their G5 boats but that doesn't reflect on any skill. Just their level of pride and accomplishment running the hamster mill successfully.

Who hurt you?

Guessing by your posts in numerous threads the engineers?

Don't worry, come Odyssey we'll see them face to face and give them a jolly good talking to on your behalf. 😂

So stick to your vanilla ice cream cone combat while we enjoy the sprinkles, sauce and chocolate flakes of engineering.

Seriously though, ED without engineering the way it is now would be like Skyrim without Black Smithing & Enchanting...boring and completely lacking in progression or diversity, with the only option to upgrade being to buy a higher tier weapon.

I was fightin in a low CZ the other night. It's been really spoilt by the too frequent ending of the battles. I was averaging about 6 kills before the enemy all ran away each time. It's a right pain when you have to kill 81 for your mission. It took me all night. Who came up with that brilliant idea? Why couldn't they leave it like it was before, but maybe bting in the special ops from time to time and the squadron leaders or whatever they're called?

targeting prioritization
My guess is that it's a combination of your rank and something about your ship (could be as simple as your rebuy).

You're probably elite, and flying the most badass ship in the system so... they're going to notice you.

I've had a lot of fun flying eagles armed with rails. Notice how this spec ops just ignores me: https://streamable.com/in6tap

Of course, if he didn't have bigger fish shooting at him, I'd be in big trouble.
