Imagine being on foot staring down a full wing of Cutters/'condas/Corvettes. All max engineeredI'm pretty sure the niche for Odyssey is going to be the little serviced "I want to be crushed by a spaceship FPS" genre.
As long as I dont have to launch it separately like how CQC is setup, I'll be the one in the spaceship nose diving walkers.

Ha ha"Hi, welcome to amati global investors portfolio update with David Braben. David nice to talk to you"
"Hi Paul, first right off the bat I feel this is the most appropriate forum to start detailing everything about next years update for one of our games Elite Dangerous so I'm going to spend the next half an hour listing the Odyssey content in detail we've not yet done so elsewhere - but I really feel like this would be the most obvious time to discuss that, I hope you know about VR Paul because I'm going to be answering all of your questions on VR and it's place in the future of the game. I'm also going to spend a further 15 minutes at the end addressing players concerns regarding our fleet carrier.."
"Uh David, we're here to talk about Frontier Developments financials"
YouTube transcript:
Your last paragraph - there are people employed to do that job - negates the point in your first + second paragraphs.Though, to be fair, Braben does have his own website and forums where he could at any time keep players up to date about how he feels about the state of the game or the future of the game and respond to the most frequent player concerns. But he has not.
So i think the original statement, that he doesn't care is apt. Nobody who cares would let the narrative that they held so important die like it has.
Really he's not who matters anymore. The project manager is the person who needs to care about what they're managing. Who's that and why haven't they played the game they manage?
He doesn't care about Elite, he runs an investment firm. It's all about the money...

This is what makes this community unique.I love reading this forum, what a fantastic and funny community! The most incredible thing is that the majority are actually right and it's only their reaction to those truths that separate them....
meh. 24:30 - "piles of cash, loads of devs". Removes VR from ED. Great. Why?
Yes a reduction of the size and the price of the equipment is necessary also for the access to the largest number of people. It's not been removed.
Only 1.9% of steam users have VR, catering to less than one in fifty of your potential customers is a bad idea. Once VR gear improves and has wider support straight out of the box it'll pick up, for now its an extremely niche thing.
