Dear FDEV, Can we re-balance how ARX are earned

Might consider earning more arx while out exploring and earning less for selling exploration data...
But then there'd be the potential for people who already have a lot of data not getting as much arx for it as they would have.
So, probably not going to happen. 🧐
It would make more sense, because downloading data from a long trip hits the ARX limit of 400 very quickly, it seems.

You're rewarded by the mission rewards.

The ARX are something different.

true, it's an extra gift, generously provided not by the mission giver, but by frontier's adorable financial and marketing depts. with lots of love!

Still waiting for the more details on how to earn arx that we were supposed to get closer to the time, oh and also don't forget that we wont have to change the way we play to earn arx....

Obviously, but it's still not the details we were supposed to get.

If they gave you specifics youd gring at it in a min-max way then complain it wasn't fun. They are trying to protect you from yourself.

I'll await a response from an FD employee regarding the current imbalance of arx and playstyle thanks.

On boxing day by asking random internet people in the forum ?. I'm starting to understand why you are utterly baffled as to where ARX come from.

More for actual exploration, less for data sale.

I'm not much of an explorer, I'm always in a position to max the Arx freebies by just pottering about in the bubble.

I do think long term explorers are getting a bad deal.
However, FDev are continuously fiddling with it, so improvement for explorers could happen.

How are you expecting anything to change without outrage and hyperbole?

I normally defend the way FDEV have handled things, but being rewarded more for a grind mechanic than actually playing the game is something I will not defend.

Gameplay needs to be a priority over grind. Reward players PLAYING the game, not a lossy grind mechanic.

I totally agree and grind and the last arx related patch disaster is why i havent played since then, but really where have you been for the last three years?
Since the engineers was introduced, the ED has been nothing but unbalanced senseless, soul sucking, fun killing, grind.
Grind tempered somewhat by the social aspects of the game, but seriously, you just noticed that ED rewards grind over everything else? Grind is the game and has been for some time.

Yet here you still are. Glutton for punishment ?.

I do a bit of mining, do a few missions, FSS any system I have not already, hit up a HazRes or CZ, and usually hit my Arx cap by Sunday afternoon playing normally. For me I suppose Arx is working exactly as Fdev intended, since I am not playing any different than I ordinarily would. But yeah, Fdev might want to tweak this a bit for the Explorers and drifters.

I imagine that the challenge is in determining how to reward exploration - there are many different ways to approach exploring.

Maybe I'm the only one who don't really care to can't earn weekly cap with long term exploration. Also maybe I'm the only one who will not sit on the data to sell it in parts just because of max few weeks caps. Also, I don't say the current system is fair or not. Just love the game, that's all. I didn't played less before Arx and don't play more since Arx released just because reach the weekly cap.

You're not the only one the only difference ARX made to me was some bonus freebies.

I honestly would have preferred if they hadnt introduced earning ARX into the game. The conversion from $ to ARX points was just bringing the game into line with what consoles already had, and while there is the whole premium currency cost I'm ok with all platforms having the same system.

Earning ARX ingame tho puts a psychological pressure to play the game or miss out and that kind of mechanic annoys me to the point that I stopped playing other games that use it. I'll play when I want, how I want not how some psychological push tries to force me to play.
