I had a vision where this thread was revived and there was war about the following choices:
- Addax vs. Arabian oryx vs. Blackbuck
- African wild bum vs. Onager
- Porcupine vs. Echidna
- Peccary vs. Coati
- Perentie vs. Spurred tortoise
- Mara vs. Rhea
- Dromedary vs. Guanaco
- Sand cat vs. Pallas cat
I will say that you can definitely update the OP. Since June 2022, we've gotten a smorgasbord of desert animals
I'm gonna wait until the new pack is announced. I have a feeling we may be able to close this thread after it.
Well let's ignite the prophecised war
1. Addax - Visually prettier (imo) than Oryx, region it comes from is more underrepresented than India (Blackbuck)
2. African Wild Behind - This purely boils down to aesthetics. Also one of the zoos I'm recreating has them
3. Porcupine - When paired like that, even tho both animals cover wide range of biomes, I've read somewhere that Echidnas aren't too kean on the heat
4. Peccary - Hardest one so far, I would LOVE both, but I'm more tolerant to Coati alternative (SA) than the Collared Peccarie's (Chacoan)
5. Perentie - Love it, maybe we can see it as anniversary animal, Water Monitor makes it hard to justify, but I just love them
6. Mara - Again, would love both, but Mara is more unique and covers special niche while Rhea would be just another Ratite
7. Guanaco - Maybe a hot take, I'm only going for Dromedary on lists because of its inevitability, but I prefer Guanaco in every aspect
8. Sand Cat - One of the rarer occasions where I would pick hot temperated animal rather than the cold one. It's just very cute and cool, and comes from underrepresented area, while Pallas Cat can always have second chance in some mountain pack
The dormedary has so much foreshadowing in the scenery I agree it's inevitable. My only problem is that both are needed for their very underrepresented region. Patagonia and the middle east are both begging for scraps while north america and south east asia are feasting.
Yeah, sadly I don't see Patagonia getting rounded up any time soon.
If we got one Patagonian animal in grasslands (Hairy Armadillo, Rhea, Mara) we could then hope for potential Desert and Mountain packs to bring at least one each.
We could at least have enough for mini sections in zoos
The problem is even in mountain pack I see Asian Ungulates taking priority over something like Guanaco.

I could see the Rhea being an anniversary animal. And the Mara in the coming pack. But I'm afraid the armadillo, guanaco, penguins and sea lions will never be in the game. Which is a shame, I was so hoping for a wild SA camelid before the south america pack was released.
Blackbuck: We have so many antilope from africa and none from asia
AWA: I just like their coloration more. Also they could pass as domestic donkeys if i squint my eyey, so more useses
Porcupine: I really want both, the porc just is higher up on my list
Coati: Would also really enjoy both. Coatis just are more of a essential zoo animal to me
Neither? But i guess tortoise: I dont really about either of them since i want the next lizard/tortoise spot to got to B&W tegus and radiated tortoise instead
Mara: The mara is something unlike anything we already have where as the rhea is just a less cool looking emu

Pallas: Its just the more interesting of the two to me. Also asian highlands/himalaya area could use some more animals
