those two items are the ones a lot of other players are interested in.
if you play in open you WANT to see other players (why else would you be there? the coffee?) so you want it to be a tool to find players, but not directly single any one out, showing systems with player traffic does this without pointing directly at people.
EDIT: a system could show player traffic, but have no players in it, as they merely 'passed through'.
Showing claims means there is combat potential, but that it may have happened (hence claim) so again, maybe nothing is happening.
Also Combat Zones should be a public service message through any known systems, safety first.
