On the sad side, I can confirm that nothing special happens if you finalize an installation and realize that your system just crossed the megaton mark. To celebrate, I renamed that commercial outpost to "The Megaton Weigh-Point". A megaton decal would be nice... or maybe fleet carrier services? :-D

Now I'm looking forward to the new rules that are going to be rolled out. I'm glad for the forced break on patch day. Mistakes were made (due to lack of information), but there are still 89 slots left to be filled. Now I planet!
 
So I'm wondering. Got a system with a terraformable HMC in it (HIP 108689) and might use it for an agriculture station in orbit. However, it is in binary orbit with a gas giant ( that has no build slots itself), and is tidally locked to the giant. (Which itself is not locked to either the star or HMC, according to map info) Said GG also has an atmospheric moon with bios on it... my first question would be, is the tidal lock to the gas giant going to negatively affect agri (I'm not sure I can read it out of Frontier's info), and the second, would it even make sense to build agriculture on/around that binary pair?

Alternatively, I could put extraction around the high metal content. It is a ringed world too, but my brain finds the idea of agriculture more appealing. Plenty of other spots in-system to do extraction economy if I want it. Also just noticed I have some of those ridiculous planets with millions of atmosphere but not considered gas giant in there.

The expected base economy from this HMC would be Extraction/Agri. The moon status of the body doesn't matter for purposes of extra economies as far as what FDev have stated. Luckily Extraction/Agri mix economies don't have any real downsides; at least as far as the Agri commodities needed for colonization go.

The way i read the patch notes you'd need both a tidally locked moon plus the planet being tidally locked to reducing the primary link.

Is the HMC designated as a planet or a moon? The strong link description is very precise. Weakens when "Tidal lock of moon around planet with tidal lock around star." or "planet tidally lovked to star" From the description i'd not expect a weakened strong link, because there is no star (but tbh, thats exactly the stuff from which bugs are made).

But who should the strong link strengthen? It is just around that moon. Any port on or around that moon? Everything else would be weak link, which is unaffected by boosts/decreases.

Am in a similar situation with a ringed terraformable HMC with volcanism where my refinery Coriolis is. On the one hand i'd like to leverage the double primary bonus (volcanism, pristine). On the other hand i have no real use for extraction and would rather influence population growth as much as possible. Also all other planets are tidally locked. So i have no real bonus case for agri.

Noticed: i have a hard time to distinguish between the primary boost and the colony economy influence.
"Ringed world": no influence on extraction strong link, only on colony economy. "HMC": no influence on extraction strong link, only on colony economy.
So unless the HMC also has volcanism, there is no reason to put an extraction installation around it. A colony port, however, would get double overrides for extraction from ring and HMC.
=> Your brain is right and warned you subconsciously about the extraction.


Edit: After writing all that i am even more convinced that we will experience a bugfest. Too many moving parts and combinations. No KISS. Plus customer service will get swamped by reports from people who do not understand the rules.

Edit2: good part: since the rules are very precise, it should have been easy to write component tests.

There aren't any around Colonia yet, so I can't analyse them this way.

That said, in terms of exports they're basically identical to Colony/Service economies, and not all that different in terms of imports either.
Is there anyway to feed trailblazers info into such a database? I guess we could feed market updates from EDDN into a database, maybe have the journal entries for station econs go to to this database as well? EDD plugin of some sort?
This seems consistent with what's previously been reported.
Cool! So a t1 orbital outpost scientific, next to a T3 orbis may/should/who knows really put more high tech influence on the T3 than a t2 orbital - installation - Research Station? DaftMav has the other econ specific outposts as adding 1.15 influence to others.

It is its own dedicated planet - in binary orbit with a gas giant. And tidally locked to the gas giant.

The question about the moon [of the gas giant] is separate to that, partly as I recall reading someone saying that binary planets share influences with one another. But the moon is tidally locked to its parent, which then is not tidally locked to the sun…
Agriculture economy:
  • Boosted by:
    • Orbiting an Earth like world
    • On or orbiting a terraformable body
(and organics but forgot to quote that part… it’s the terraforming quality that is the one I have my eye on anyway)

I rather considered ‘extraction’ as the alternative mostly because the rings would allow me to put down an asteroid base around the planet, but maybe I won’t anyway. Technically said HMC also has volcanic activity but it’s non-landable so I’m not sure how the system treats that.

… yeah, as much as the documentation from Frontier is appreciated we do definitely need it to be taken out into the field and experienced. And maybe to be organized a little better. Certainly had the thought of noting it down somewhere more accessible than the current patch notes thread but I’m sure the colonization spreadsheet will be updated with that in some way.

Speaking of - does anybody have a clue how I’d add more (functional) colony tabs to it, or do I just need to make a new copy? For some reason I cannot figure out how to make that work properly.
